Well if it works for you I do wish you the best, the upside of going with any company that will hire you is that if you do good and keep a positive attitude things will get better.

Once you have two years of verifiable OTR with them you can start looking around if you do not want to stay with them, times have changed drastically since I started learning in the early 1970's.

so you have no experience but paid $500.00 for your cdl,at least you have that, alot of them wont call you back because they cant make money off of you cause you didnt go through their school, just whereever you go just work the program and dont let others guide your thoughts about a company

If you trained with a trailer greater than 48' Conway truckload will most likely hire you. My wife and I started that way 3 years ago (we don't team now but thats a whole new story.. neither of us work for them now so I have nothing vested here).. and CWTL has a great training program. There is a thread on here you can research them as well. They kept us moving through the recession. Minus hometime weeks I don't think we moved less than 4800 a week, and our most productive week was something like 7200 miles.

Try US Xpress. They have really good pay for teams and run us good. Make sure you have your hazmat. Once you get through training they pay .48cpm.

I worked for CRST as well. They aren't as bad as people say. The pay is just too low. You don't really make any money with them until you are 6 months into it. Most people get discouraged way before then. At CRST you start out at like .22cpm (that may have changed since I've been there) and go up a few cents every month or so. I was making .34 at a year and a half.

doored88, first off welcome to the forum! Now for the rest....

You seem to be a little scared/gun shy of going over the road. Nothing wrong with that. You also seem to have blinders on or not willing to do some research. Swift and CRST are not the only two companies out there running teams. There are thousands! Including but not limited too, NASCAR, Stevens, Central Ref, Horse hauling, Fedex, CBS Sports, Dart, Forward Air, Marten, Celadon, Barr-nunn etc... you get the point.

With that in mind I highly suggest you do some homework and broaden your view.

Team driving is an excellent way to make more money. Can also be a nightmare! Make sure you know what you are getting into. I also highly suggest if you are going to team drive that your co-driver live within a 100-200 mile radius of where you live. Otherwise go ahead and sell your house! Teams run hard! Very hard! To the tune of 7000 miles a week! I have run team for nearly 16 years, I know a little about what all is entailed. You are going to get a little taste of teaming when you are in training. You will get the gist of how it goes but won't run nearly as hard as a normal experienced team. Teams also hold a lot more responsibility then solo drivers. At night when everyone is tucked in their bunks at the truck stops or when the weather is bad and they are all pulled in, you and your co-driver will be chugging along night, day, bad weather etc... That's why you get paid the big bucks! Not sure what your hometime plans are but teams definitely stay out longer than solo's. This is good financially, bad on family. If you don't have a family or kids then you are good to go!

Wish you luck, just holler if you got team driving concerns.
