If you are gonna miss that head on sob by this much, mark his ### anyway. A big shove on his little 2000 pound vehicle losing a body panel or something will do it. I call those love taps.
You did whatever you can not to kill him head on. Thanks man. You will be fine.

I was passing another truck blowing full speed, downhill in the hammer lane. If I swerved right, I put that guy out on the road trying to feed his family over a guard rail and certain death. Swerve left and he swerves back into his lane, preventable head on fatality collision, I'm going to prison. Slam on my brakes, probably going to Jack the trailer and maybe kill 3 lanes of people. I took my foot off the accelerator, blew my airhorn and left maybe 100 or so feet of skidmarks for DOT to find.
By God's grace alone, that idiot looked up from his text long enough to swerve back into his lane. Would have been the end of at least his life, probably at least my career, my mentor's new truck, and depending on how my body and the truck reacted to the collision, possibly killed everyone in 3 vehicles.
There were only bad and worse options. School didn't prepare me for this ####. Nothing can.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
That's right nothing can prepare. One thing you wrote that I like to see in a professional is the ability to run down the options with a cold eye and then choose and execute it as best you are able with everything you got not knowing what the future result will be but hoping nothing happens such as you say with prison, death and injury etc.
Most people take freedom for granted in this Nation and throw it away. It's a wonder why I have not killed 30 people by now or more considering the situations I recall. Or myself a dozen times in situations I could never imagine.
In Israel they teach core to Soldiers, as long you can breathe you can fight, meaning while there is time here to do something and commit the truck to it even if it is a simple repave of the road for 6 months with all your tires... (With the Boss yelling bad words when he learns how many he needs to replace....) the yelling is a affirmation that no one got hurt so... eh? My last pending wreck when I used the brakes hard prior to the ABS days, it cost me 5 brand new tires. All of which came out of my check for weeks. I paid it gladly. I would not want to buy tires all the time but that was the way they did it back then. ABS became the master system by which you can really horse that rig if you had to.
Good luck to you. See you on the flip side. -
Wow look at this crazy pileup.
Geez, I think if my view was that obstructed by the weather i would be going like 25mph or pull over and not drive at all untill it cleared up.
This is insane.
