Do you mean you, your spouse, AND a team driver?

I'd need a LOT more than split mileage pay to be the uncoupled driver in that setup.....

Keep the top bunk clear, I ain't sleeping in the wet spot!

If you marry someone, and that spouse has a full CDL, passed school State DMV tests, endorsements, passport etc then all is well. You will in fact find that such a situation is what I call a Golden Ticket in this industry.

When we myself and spouse were teamed with FFE, we were getting offers upwards of 5000 each bonus signon plus a number of other big money situations in wages and so on combined with really high dollar freighting. We stayed loyal to FFE until we finally had enough of their 0.00 paychecks. (Paperwork snafus. We started keeping our own paperwork. Pile them on the DM'ss desk and ask for a 4 figure comcheck after taxes please. They always paid up. Heh.

    Now.

If you have a driver, a second driver and you are married to wife who is in the back of that truck as a passenger? NO NO NO NO. First off, that truck's interior will need more frequent cleaning against infection due to accumulated human dead cells, hair and fluids etc. There is no room to sleep three unless you two take the big bunk in the bottom leaving the poor schmuck up top wondering....

Not to mention the tare weight penalty. You might find that you are too heavy with three. Forget it.

I am not trying to be difficult. But if spouse wants to run? Send him or her to school. Wait a while then once the CDL etc is all sorted. Your company will BEND OVER BACKWARDS to get spouse with you ASAP. (And kick the other teamperson OUT.)

BEFORE that spouse goes out with you, DO NOT have that person in the truck just yet for any reason. Companies DO ask if that person has ever been inside your truck without permission or specific authorization and guess what a Yes causes you to lose your job.

TEACH the spouse the ways of the underworld out here. A company or date from strange men or women is common situation. (Not to be tolerated) Ive actually been asked up in Rochester by a pretty with wife overhearing everything. I told her to take off, wife heard everything. She took off. (Smart)

Also personal hygene with spouse in truck together with you is really important. You two will find that a few minutes work cleaning the showers (Plural in a married shower room) comes in handy. Before using it. Never use the spas anywhere.

Finally but not last, your situational awarness for the both of you needs to be eyes up. There are some predators who will regardless of whatever assets your spouse has will follow right into the cab. That is where I come in with my blade that one time. Surprise mister GTFO or die right here.

Im one of those people who have a switch with my spouse (Current ex) in particular that if anyone threatens her again I would not hesitate to do what it takes to end it. It's a switch that goes click into my mind and we go from there into battle. It will be over one way or the other.

Bad things aside. There are benefits to having a team spouse with full CDL etc with you. Eventually you two will make it or wont. YOU WILL learn each other's true weaknesses and strengths out here. If your marriage survives this, then I can say it can survive pretty much anything.

Three people in a small semi conventional tractor. It's unnatural.
