You have a valid point Gashauler. I do not dispute a THOROUGH inspection does in fact take more than 2 minutes. I was attempting to relay the information extolled by Texas State Trooper Monty Dial on the "Ask The Law " segment I heard on Sirius Satellite Radio Channel 147.

The more thorough an inspection the greater chance you will detect something wrong. Unfortunately we have many folks (myself included) that do not get down on the ground to inspect the underside of the trailer, pulling slack adjusters, or checking for leaking wheel seals. I actually count on the maintenance department to catch the things I didn't during the pm services. If I discover a serious problem then I will address it right away. I know you all will probably think less of me now but hey I am just being honest. I am Glad some of you fellas actually do get down and dirty to check out your rigs. Your a better inspector than me!

No I don't think that. I know most companies do not want their drivers under the truck. But it doesn't take much to take a flashlight (even in daytime) and look at all the brake parts and all other points of inspection
