Craig,
I'm in school now and probably looking at teaming with US Xpress as a first choice for a company, followed by a couple of flatbed companies, so if all goes well, it'd be cool to run into you two at some point and put a face with a name...this blog and the other one are pretty good confirmations about what I want out of a trucking company.
Or at least, put a real-live face with a name and not just a forum picture. -
-
You've pretty much answered everything throughout the thread...the standard I have for income is greater than $550 take-home pay per week, and if I'm below that on a team, something is seriously wrong, because I want to run hard and I'll pretty much be willing to take whatever loads the company sends my way. I'm a simple guy with simple demands on life and I'm pretty flexible, so living in a truck is no big deal to me.
I guess if you could offer advice about how to eat relatively healthy, that would be one of my last major issues to manage. -

We do have the two door refrigerator though. Much larger freezer and it really works well. We buy apples, packaged little grapefruit cups with no sugar, oatmeal, etc. The big thing is to eat in the truck most of the time. Truck stop food is so bad for you.
RizenPhoenix and DaReallyst Thank this. -
Just wanted to stop in and say "hey"! Good to see you two still running out there.
NoCoCraig Thanks this. -
Meals at Denny's can be reasonable if you eat off the 2,4,6,8 menu. If you have AARP you get a nice discount as well. Just stay away from all of the junk foods that are so tempting.

Life is pretty easy when you are a pancake fanatic. $2 pancakes at Denny's rocks

Haha, no, I'm only 26 so no AARP discount. I do like the idea of a lot of fruits because those seem to be the best bet as far as spoilage goes, plus the good fiber-filled stuff fills you right up. There are, of course, many other threads with similar opinions about truck stop food, and I was reasonably certain that I would be staying far away from it as much as possible (probably more expensive, too).
Walmart is a good idea, too...the big supercenters have decently-sized parking lots so it wouldn't be a huge deal to drop by briefly.
Thanks a lot for the help, everyone.
