Schneider is the company we are really looking at. I read that they take care of their team drivers.

Have you been in a team before? My friend and i work well with each other and we both don't have a life to speak of.

Yeah, I've ran teams before. Made good money, running only shuttle runs between terminals- easy work for the most part. BUT, our biggest mistake was running 1-2 months at a time. At the end of every leg out we'd be ready to kill each other. When we were getting off home time we'd dread getting back into the truck. On my third time in on home time my co-driver called me "I dunno if I can keep doing this. It's not really you, so much as it is just living in a truck with ANYONE." I agreed and we parted ways amiably.

Little things people do, will become big issues. Bigger than you can imagine. My co-driver would do several things that drove me crazy. For instance I was always considerate of him when he was waking up, I'd make sure we were at or near a truck stop so he could grab a shower and use the bathroom while I was refueling, or grabbing dinner or whatever. On several dozen occasions I was taking a dump in a rest area, wiping myself down with wet wipes.

But there were things I did that drove him crazy, I snore- like CRAZY. I don't have sleep apnea, but a narrow back palate so I tend to snore quite loudly when I sleep on my back. I also had a tendency to eat a lot of Mexican foods before going to sleep- he didn't like the gas :biggrin_25526:.

Mutually we just decided it was best to part ways. Neither of us have driven teams since. It's just too much BS unless you're driving with, like, your soul mate. Though it would be nicer to drive with a member of the opposite sex, so at-least you can `um *cough* release some of that pent up tension every now and then.

At the end of out time out, in the truck, I'd entertain myself by imagining beating him to death with a tire thumper.

I can't comment on Schneider but 50k each is very doable at USX for a first year team.

Thank you for the very informative reply. I have informed my friend that this maybe fun at first but that this will start to suck after 3 or 4 months. He doesn't seem to feel the same way but i always point him to post like yours here. Our first goal is this. Try to make as much as possible and pay off or school loans fast. Then make enough to pay a deposit on a place to live because we are basically homeless right now (The economy kicked our ##### as well as my ex-wife). After that we drive until we are about ready to murder each other. Then we will part ways and get our separate trucks. So basically our goal will be 7 to 8 grand in a 4 month period driving with scheider.

    Important serious question...

Would you trust your life to your friend ?

Yes. Because like me he has never had a ticket or accident in his life. We are both safety first kind of people. Lets just say that he is the only person i would ever consider teaming up with.
