And Starbucks closing down those union stores shows you just how underpaid their employees really are.

What do you think a cashier should be paid? That is an entry level job skill to me and should not be a top wage earning job. If they are making 10 bucks an hour they are paid to much in my eyes.

I had my daughter working in a factory for me making $10 an hour. No way in hell I think making some coffee is worth more then that. Somehow some mass of people seem to think an entry job should be a living wage.

The real question is how much do you think a full time employee needs to be paid to sustain a subsidence lifestyle?

The various McJobs aren't going to be filled entirely by teenagers. Not because teenagers are lazy, but because it's a full time job. Someone needs to open Starbucks at 0500 and close it at 2100, not to mention working the lunch rush when anyone going to school needs to be in class.

ANY full time job should pay enough for the worker to pay for a studio apartment, groceries, and transportation to/from work WITHOUT ANY GOVERNMENTAL ASSISTANCE.

If a person wants more than that they can work for it.

All that said, Capitalism says that labor is the ultimate commodity. If a factory can easily staff at $10/hour but Starbucks can't find workers for less than $15/hour, then the market is putting a valuation on the labor. If labor is unwilling to work for the wage offered then the free market is talking.

    Very well said.
$10 per hour in today's economy is a poverty wage. It's 20k. It most areas housing would consume 70% of that income.

It should! If it is a full time job it should absolutely be a living wage. Just differing opinions I guess. Starbucks acting like they can't pay people more.

Living wage? Sounds like a slogan for a socialist, western elitist. Most people in the world would dream of poverty in the US. Poverty with a car, iPhone, and latte!

Yep an Obama phone paid for by stealing money from the rest of us, vouchers and special programs to buy the car again paid by your taxes, rent assistance again paid by who, and in other cases help with heating and electric bills paid for by who?
