They are deporting illegal aliens. In my town alone they have picked up 30+ this year. And Obama deported more then Trump has at this time in his presidency. Yet thousands of others have self-deported.
I say this because overall your conflating two points and ignoring the cause. We have illegals because people like Ronald Regan wanted to bust the unions. As Regan saw it, union workers make too much money for the rich that contributed to his campaign.
The distractors from unions want to have it all ways:
Unions are socialist - Yet they are just a tool to negotiate a better wage in capitalist way in a capitalist system.
Unions don't provide any benefit for their workers - Yet big business works hard to keep unions out.already gone Thanks this. -
Unions say that they are for the American work yet try to unionize illegal aliens.
Obama and the Democrats are trying to do the same thing that Ronald Reagan did.
When are people going to learn that the Democrats are pro illegal aliens and pro-environment. They are not pro American worker. Ask the coal workers that lost their jobs to Obama. Good thing they were able to get jobs in the oilfields.
BTW, Obama counted the illegals that got caught crossing the border. These people are automatically deported. -
Well the facts are the teamsters just took a 30% cut on the central state plan and NYS plan. And I get a letter about once a month how it's in "critical" status and they're funds will run out in 2024......

Teamsters pension plan warns thousands of beneficiaries that the checks may get smaller
Idk about you but if you read about how much is put in and how much is taken out....I'm no math major but that sure as hell shows them slowly demising into oblivion lmao
That's why I moved on. I took it on the chin leaving the benefits for family health but man I sure would like to hope I can retire after all Thai sacrifice and that's one of the main reasons I left.gentleroger and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Both true and untrue or at least inaccurate.
Some unions have moved to unionize illegals. Some have tried to unionize H2A and B temporary legal workers.
However, just as many or more have taken the position that illegal immigration, and temporary worker program hurt workers and labor relations.
If you mean immigration amnesty, your are indeed correct.
If you mean, encourage illegal immigration, to bust unions, and depress wages you are very incorrect.
When are people going to realize the biggest proponent of both illegal immigration, and legalizing temporary workers are union busting big business and their republican toddies.
Sadly this is becoming more the truth then it has in the past.
So is Obama not responsible for the oil, yet responsible for the coal? When parroting political talking points, one often neglects facts. Oil production increased do to technical advancements. By the same token employment in the coal industry has been decreasing for years, long before Obama, for technical advancements.
Again your talking political talking points not the facts.
Started under Bush, Obama used a program that deported border jumpers far from the border area they crossed in order to deter future border crossings. Obama did count those as deportations rather then catch and releases, because that is what they were.
What is true, their were more deportations, and self-deportations under Obama then any other president including Trump. In a sense, Obama took the low hanging fruit; he deported those with easy to justify criminal records. As of now the immigration courts are backlogged with immigration arrests and the taxpayer is supporting the incarceration of these illegals. Trump deportations lag behind Obama levelsrabbiporkchop and gentleroger Thank this. -
According to the article, arrests under Trump have increased 38%. As you pointed out, courts are overloaded. Until they can get the system moving, actual deportations will lag behind eventhoug arrests are increasing.
Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Did CSPF take a 30% cut or is it proposed? Last I heard they were proposing 60% Again there are a lot more fully funded than underfunded.
-
Maybe for now, but 27% are in "critical" status, and another 14% are "endangered" according to the Center for Reteirment Research at Boston College. What happens when a pension fund goes bankrupt? The federal government bails it out thru the Pension Benifit Gaurantee Corporation (which is running out of money istelf, by the way).
So a company gets to make promises to its employees, run itself into the ground (with a little help from the Unions - see Hostess et al), and the rest of us pick up the tab.
IRAs, 401ks, and other personal retirement plans don't have the same payoff as decreed benifit programs. In monetary terms they fall way short, but they are controlled by the individual. The individual has the ability to change jobs, careers, locations, etc without losing their retirement. It allows a free flow of labor who can make changes in pay levels and working conditions.
And again I'd like to ask you why union participation fell from over 70% to under 20% in two decades? -
YRC never filed bankruptcyalready gone and p608 Thank this.

This subject seems to always bring up the debate work for union and reasons why some think there not a good place. It seems some lock in on pension troubles.yes 401ks are also a good tool to save for retirement. There are no guarantees but the good things about pensions is at the end of the day your money isn’t at risk this is funded solely from the company and guaranteed by the government .Everyone should also save on there own also and if you can stay at like YRC and build a little seniority you can make a good living.bottom line is jobs at companies like YRC,ABF,UPS pay is good benefits are good they are good jobs for drivers,But 401ks are not without there downfalls with fees and market downturns can lose a lot my wife worked for a major cigarette company since she was 21 now 56 in 2008 her 401 was worth over 1 million dollar and lost almost $400,000 almost over night. But now she did recover a lot of what was lost but took several years to get back where she was.
