As far as TV shows and movies are concerned; you can stream them from places like:

    Redbox
    Google Play
    Netflix
    Blockbuster
    Hulu
Amazon Prime (but I do not like their pricing structure)
Main network websites (ABC/CBS/NBC/FOX). You can generally get current shows after broadcast time on the east coast. Original content from cable networks is hit and miss (A&E/USA/TNT/Spike/etc.) The only problem is if you follow 'reality' TV (American Idol/The Voice/America's Got Talent/The Apprentice/DWTS), you really need to avoid social media until you are able to watch the action unfold.

As far as sports are concerned, I haven't tried to stream much, but I was able to stream this year's NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Swimming championships (I generally do not follow college swimming in the year prior to an Olympic year, as many of the top athletes actually redshirt that year because they posted qualifying times for the US Olympic Trials and want to train for that and the international scene (this year, we have Olympic Trials, the World Championships, and the Olympics in 2016)). At least one athlete I know of will no longer be competing in the NCAA ranks because SHE (Missy Franklin) turned pro at the end of the 2015 season after swimming for 2 years for Cal; others are likely to follow suit.

I also watched online the final 2 games of the NCAA Division I Men's Water Polo tournament.

start with the basics inclusive of the am/fm/cd player that is already in the truck,a cb radio,a laptop, and a cell phone w/camera.radar detector if you EVER get the opportunity to drive an actual truck.that is all that i have in my truck.NO gps for me.you shouldn't use a gps but i am betting that you will and that you'll swear by one however and not drive without.not a jab.just the truth. honestly, why go all out like that when you aren't even driving yet? why not grow into the truck as you become a more confident driver thus adding to your entertainment list along the way? reckon your trainer will allow all that on the truck that you'll be sharing? will you have the room?

i did not attend driving school nor was i mandated to ride/team with some unknown person so i am thinking that between actually learning to drive after you get out of whatever cdl mill, you will not have too much extra time on your hands for all that entertainment.

acclimate to driving a truck well before you ear bud out.

best of luck when you get out here-

I am primarily thinking about how to entertain myself when on down time, without looking like an id10t

There is a time and a place for that, and it ain't in truck stop coffee shop or the lounge of a repair shop.

    Some folks steal movies.

I get DVDs used at local flea markets. 5 for $10! Full series TV shows on DVD for cheap as well. Just check the discs for scratches

5 seasons of the wire, brand new for $30 on ebay. Fulls series of The Shield for about $40. I think it was 8 seasons(?).
