Good for a backup at least. When BigJohn54 drove for me, he also preferred the steering wheel as a laptop stand. After about the eleventieth wifi troubleshooting call, he got a 15' usb cable on his next pass thru the terminal. His first question was "What if I trip over it?" and I answered, "Don't do that."
We both cracked up. Just use what works for you. Very soon he had the wire threaded through the bunk curtain and the passenger seat belts or something. Out of the way and easy to use.
technology just gotta love it

i use my phone. it changes every time. don't see the need for spending money on a hotspot device when my phone does the same job and so much more. -
Snowy, doesn't your phone use two IP's, one for the local area network, the other for the wide area network, a.k.a. the internet (which is the one that you see changing due to DHCP) ?

my seat swivels 180 degrees leaving me facing a little pullout desk with printer mounted above cabinet to the right. +1 for International trucks.

Once it is set-up it works and no resetting every time you stop. -
Name your hotspot "Snowy the Great"; connect your printer to this with the password that you set once and then every time you turn on you hotspot on your phone it will connect automatically (and doing the same with computer to hotspot).
From what I am reading you are making this much more complicated than it needs to be or using some outdate POS software that was designed before some of this technology was ever thought of.RedForeman Thanks this. -
i have no idea. i've asked in the android forums and the best answer they can give me is a router. all i know is that my ipaddress changes every time. so i'm guessing that would be the problem. since some of you say it DON'T change with your hotspots.
might have to try bills idea. but my dad says he just turns his hotspot on and has no problems printing. no password or anything. just like the rest of you guys with hotspots. -
nvm, I was going to put this elsewhere.
