Ok, Ive listened to advice, looked into options, taken practice tests and been soul searching for days now. And to be honest I'm more confused than ever.:biggrin_2557: I have read through forum after forum and know that none of the trucking companies are good, except the ones I cant afford to go to. Im told that certain companies I should stay away from, but not why. I have read that I could be thrown out of a leaders truck and left on the street with no way home and no money. Or once I get to training that I might be sent back home that I have to pay for. So this is it, I'm a 43 yr old 5 ft tall married woman that just wants to get her foot in the door, get trained and get my cdl. I know that a long term over the road career is not what I will always want. I eventually want a more local route someday like I'm sure alot of truckers want. Or maybe not.

I know that nothing in life is easy, and also that nothing is accomplished if not tried. :biggrin_25521: So that being said, I have an opportunity to train with CRST. I have been told they are good and they are bad. But not the specifics. I know they are a team only company, but that may be a positive thing for someone new to the industry. At least for the first year gaining experience. Ive looked into Drivers solution as well, and been told by several people here and in other forums to stay away from them. So I do want to thank all of the ones that sent advice to my other thread. I'm not so much afraid of the treatment of other truckers as I am about the actual companies that could possibly #%*^! me. So tell me something good please. I just want to make the best decisions possible because there is a lot at stake. I only have one chance, and it could make or break me.:biggrin_2556: Sorry about the book guys and I do appreciate all the feedback I can get.

You have to do what you have to do. Follow both your heart and your instincts. If something sounds too good to be true, then oftentimes it is. Have an open ear to all opinions, and hopefully you'll find guidance. Talk to recruiters and drivers that are employed with the companies that you're interested in. Most important of all, good luck out there.

*blinks* What upfront expenses are there with Swift and why would you not qualify?

P.S. My husband and I team for Swift and we both went through their training.

Well from what I understand, i would have to pay for training then reimbursed. And I cant get a loan due to credit issues.

People say the wrong thing. I'll explain it to you. If you go to the Swift training Academy, they'll loan you the money, no credit check. There are some small things you pay for upfront but it's not much. The cost of the school, housing during school etc is on the loan with Swift. Then as you work for them it's deducted from your paycheck over 13 months. HOWEVER at the same time you're reimbursed by Swift over 26 months, so for the first 13 months you're paying $75 each week but they're reimbursing you $37.50. At the end of 13 months you've paid the loan off, and they've repaid you half. Then they continue to reimburse you the $37.5 each week for the next 13 months.

Let me know if I've totally confused you. :biggrin_25523:

Can you show that you've had a job for the last year?
