My engine oil and coolant temps change depending on what program I'm running in the ECM along with the weather of course. My rears and transmission all run warmer in the Summer but never over 200 or so even running mountains.

One thing that I like about oil/coolant coolers is that it helps warm the trans in the winter before taking off.

I have an '07 ISX. I've replaced the coolant system. Water pump, thermostat, radiator, all hoses, fan clutch, etc. Also new oil cooler.

As long as I engage my fan manually, it doesn't get above 183* on the coolant, and 207* on the oil. Even if I have it pinned all the way to the top.

If I don't engage the fan, it will run 209* coolant before the fan kicks on, and 224* oil.

I don't have gauges for any of my gear boxes.

Why do you not let the ECM handle it?

It runs 180* on the flats, and has a 180* thermostat. I know it's fine to let the computer engage the fan at 209*, but I just can't help but feel everything including hoses are happier running cooler. I don't think for a second I'm smarter than the engineers that design this stuff, but I like it to stay as cool going up hill as it does on the flats. Call me crazy.

Yeah I do the same always turn the fan on at the bottom of a hill. Also put a 170 T-stat in from 180.

Oil usually stays around 185. I really have to work it hard to get it to 200

On any hill climb that requires more than 1 gear down, I turn on the fan by default. Never see over 180 when climbing due to this.

New cummins motor somehow someway always manages to get to 240 oil temp on the climb but the coolant fluctuates a lot. It’s the newest rig I’ve ever driven so my assumption is this new tech is handling business as usually. I usually drop into a lower gear to where I can feel she can pull harder but don’t have to. 1500-1600 rpm. Pulling grapevine first time ever today sitting at 79,800 so we shall see how that goes. 565/1850 cummins tied to an 18 on 3.36’s.
