I used to know quite a bit back a couple years ago when I first got my license from a licensing mill. One went to speedy transport and worked for $14 an hour and the other went to another company for a mere $16 an hour at the time. The only experience any of them had was what they learned in driving school. I think the best bet is to find a South Asian driving school and maybe talk to some of the driving school students there. It will eventually lead you to what you are looking for.

Many of these "tfws" aren't "tfws" at all. They're in the country on student visas (which only allow 20 hrs/week of work). They're much easier to defraud and abuse...... tfws actually have some rights protecting them...."students" operating illegally, have nothing.

Then the people here on student visas(the easiest visa to get.) go and find work as a "subcontractor" or what is referred to as a "driver Inc. " setup. They get no wsib. No unemployment and no CPP. They contribute relatively nothing in taxes if even they submit taxes at all.

It takes an Audit of their complete financials to really know if they're working more than 20hrs a week...... Because their pay is done through a "driver inc" number.

Greatest scam ever and we're all subsidising it.

I've just come back from a holiday in Canada just love how great the highways were it was a little slow on Highway 1 between Kamploops and Calgary due to all the road works. Those people who choose to get a job as a truck driver while on a student visa are doing so at their own risk as students they are only allowed to do certain types of work and OTR would not be considered acceptable however part time casual would be ok. There are a couple of companies that do have what is known as a foreign driver program they must have done a LMIA first to get approved to hire drivers from another country.
