That's not true with Texas. One of my drivers that's leased onto me lives in Dallas and he walked in with all paperwork in hand and 2 hours later walked out with plates and ifta.

    Willie Pete Thanks this.

Well, for NEW carriers in Texas apllying for IFTA, it seems its going to take about 3 weeks according to Austin Texas Comptroller for IFTA. Walking in and out same day in Texas requires that you already have an IFTA account established. I appliied for mine in the San Antonio Office, and even walked into the Austin Headquarters , they told me SORRY, FIRST TIME IFTA COMES IN THE MAIL FOR VERIFICATION REASONS.

This blows, as it seems im gonna have to buy permits to travel out of state. Sad thing is Austin HQ couldn't even tell me where to get the temporary permits, except for to stop at the scalehouses in each state. Pure BS!

Wow, not sure whatto say. My driver was setting up a new account and everything, so it wasn't a renewal or anything like that.

And I thought Fla was bad.

Fla tries to persuade you to go online as well. Problem is their website is broken and many parts simply do not work.

As a walk in,.. you have 2 options. Miami or Tallahassee. Its a 3.5hr drive to Tallahassee for me. The first time I went up there I didnt have all my i's dotted,.. so after 2 hours waiting to see someone, had to head home for the paperwork I should have called to make sure I had but didnt (Hand to face). Its similar to the DMV,.. only worse. But,.. YES,.. you can have your IFTA the same day provided you everything in order.

It's pretty frustrating that most states you can get the sticker same day, yet in Texas there's a 3 week backlog before they can mail them out. (Ifta rep said since there's no fee to apply, it's not a priority for them to process, lol)

Does this mean i have to get fuel permits for each state I travel in while waiting for the sticker, or is there a please i can go and get one permit and be good while waiting for my stickers?

I'm honestly not the one to ask for this. I honestly do not know.

But I'm going to assume that you would need one for each state.

May be last years post, but still the same way. I have been waiting for my IFTA stickers for over two weeks and the office just called a few days ago asking for more info and had to change my name (didnt have my DBA on there) and then she said it will still be 2-3 weeks before I get them...... :angryfire:
