Have any of ya'll ever seen that old Peterbilt 379 (or maybe a 359, don't remember) painted Hemi Orange, done up all "Dukes of Hazzard" style with "GENERAL PETE" written on it? LOL think I saw that down in Alabama pulling out of a truck stop.

Haven't seen that one, dfo...if you catch it, post a pic for us!

This guy had Oklahoma tags, and was loading empty pigs (the little propane tanks) on a flatbed for a journey to warmer climes. I wanted to go...

How far out do you run from MI? Are ya stuck in the snow and ice for the rest of that long, drawn out MI winter?

Barely any snow in the Midwest this year. A little bit cold but it's in the high 20's to low 30's in Minneapolis right now which is a heat wave by their standards.

So many drivers retreat south for the winter that the rates just suck down there. Booked a really good paying load into Oklahoma and the only decent paying freight takes you even further south where the rates are even worse. I just booked a cheap ### load out of Goodyear heading straight back to illinois so I can end up getting into the positive for next week before going home for a few days.

Some Illinois (slightly south & west of Chicago, mostly) for loading, some Indiana, some Ohio, but mostly stuck here in Missed-again.

In case anyone missed it, Michigan roads inhale with gale force. Coming into the state on any major interstate, you don't even need the 'Welcome' sign to know you're here. Your ribs smacking your hipbones will let you know...and for the love of all you hold dear, DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO CHEW IN YOUR MOUTH...you'll bite your tongue off!!!

That's interesting. You think it's "real time" supply and demand? I know there are contracts where the rates are pre determined. But yeah, it makes sense that rates could vary in short time if no one commits to a load.

I would really like to learn more about the rates in the freight market and how it all works.

Out of Lawton? And for the next week im running nothing but Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisana. Theres only one "cheap load" im pulling. $1.30. Everything else is 1.49 up averaging around 1.55. I even found a load paying 259 dollars going 29 miles lol

Rates maybe went down about 10% in the Midwest after the holidays. I cringe taking anything less than $1.40/mile.

Wow this has been a slow week. Seems like driving 100 miles feels more like 1000.
