for those choice operators who might be looking to go to Southern California my advice right now would be not to because the ports are on strike the crane operators are not working and they currently have 33 container ships sitting offshore waiting to come into port, and the customer I just loaded out of in El Segundo inform me that on a normal day they would have 8 or more containers coming into the warehouse at right now they have zero and their supplier have inform them they are routing the ships to houston. ..what I saw yesterday was very little container traffic driving up and down the highways in the LA area least far less than normal buy a good shot.
stevep1977 and TennMan Thank this. -
When the strike lifts you'd think there will be a huge demand increase for all the backlog and rates probably should reflect that after that occurs.TennMan Thanks this.

That's a novel thought but when the port workers get a raise the rates will probably suffer you figure the freight isn't moving so neither are most of the container trucks so the number of drivers will be high so rates will probably be low. Just my pennies worth. -
Somebody has to give up something so the unions can get a raise and trucking is most likely.

OXO distributing in Southaven MS is a do not return customer. Another IC had a 11 am appointment and he is still here being loaded My appointment was 1300 and I'm still sitting here too. So much for making it home tonight......

Sorry for the dumb question I don't bump docks.
But do these places let you idle the truck when your camped out at the dock ? -
I was there back in the summer, at the dock for 8 hours. I won't go back there either.
-
Some let you idle some won't but if I have my key and need to idle I do if they want my truck off then load me and I'll get it off your property.
Fajo and drvrtech77 Thank this.
