DFO what was the process of your lease completion and when you moved to your truck did you get new tags, Pre pass I think I remember you saying you kept your permits though I may be wrong.

Even though I bought my own truck at the end of the term with my lease truck, the process should be the same for you going from old lease truck to new lease truck, just some different paperwork to do at the end.

Towards the end of your lease term you'll get in touch with your SFI rep and set up a date to turn the truck back in. They'll get a bunch of info from you about the truck and you'll need to take your plate and prepass out of the truck as those will transfer to your new one. It takes some time (weeks), but they will inspect the truck and anything they find wrong with it will be repaired from funds out of your maintenance account. They are very picky about tires and will charge you for any tread depth under a certain limit.

Since I was done leasing a truck, they paid out the remaining balance of what was in my managed maintenance account on a settlement about 3 weeks after I turned it back in. I turned in the truck super clean and in really good shape and I don't think more than a few hundred or so went into refurbishing it.

I would imagine since you plan to lease another truck, they'll probably try to get everything set up so that when you drop the old one off you'll also pick the new one up and sign all the paperwork for that truck, throw your plates and prepass in there and be ready to roll. Just a guess.

Thanks DFO i figured you'd know since you just recently did it. Well back in November if I remember correctly. I will be moving into another lease truck most likely, still a chance I may go to outside vendor but doubtful.

Drifter42, dieselfuelonly and 91B20H8 Thank this.

Yea I'm gonna get the KW as of now, I'm still kinda on the fence about going to an outside carrier but for tax purposes leasing is better for me and if there's an issue down the road then if I lease thru SFI at least they'll have my back on warranty issues and such.

    ew2108 and Drifter42 Thank this.
