Honestly the drivers putting aluminum foil on the sensor are going to get busted sooner or later. With today’s tech, the company has a good feeling who’s messing around with the sensor.

At Stevens, they hire people to secretly monitor drivers on the road. It happened to me once, and I passed the test. I was told about it during a safety talk.

I know this doesn't help with your question but I'm not sure why you'd even feel the need to cover it.

It only works when the cruse is on. Personally, I like the adaptive cruise.

One thing I like is if you're coming up on someone you know you're going to pass and the mirror says the left lane is looking ugly the adaptive cruise will pace whomever is in front of you perfectly until the other lane clears up so it's safe to pass.

The lane departure buzzer is easy enough to control. Just stay in your lane.

Personally, I like driving an old truck without all the bull puckey, no DEF, and a big, ungoverned Cat. That, and a boss that leaves all the details to me, and gives brownie points for faster, instead of slower.

Lilblondi, go find yourself a little outfit to drive for, that has really good safety scores, without all the nonsense.

I worked for a mega (Knight). Had a freight liner with that onguard adaptive cruise. The box next to the dashboard was starting to degrade and malfunction, and the shop refused to replace it. Was beeping at me at day long, and intermittently not letting me use the cruise control to the point that I had to keep my foot on the pedal for large parts of the day.

I eventually had a really bad day and put my fist through it. I took it apart and spread epoxy across the shattered screen and spray painted it dull black to make it look like it was just not working. I eventually found a work around to getting the cruise control back.

At the next shop inspection, I was asked about the now completely nonfunctional onguard box. I said I wrote it up at the last inspection and you didn’t replace it.
They didn’t question me further and didn’t have to deal with that onguard system for the remainder of my time at Knight.
