@bandit58 why would you think to question if the driver of the truck was running legal, cheating his logs or in a rush to deliver a load? once again why is this being turned toward the driver? The van driver hit a deer and made the bad decision to STOP in a traffic lane instead of moving out of the way, how does this in any way fall back to the truck drivers fault?

ultra......(nice name, '09 owner myself!) I understand your thinking. Maybe I worded it wrong. You and I both know the law and media will blame the truck (makes good headlines)
The driver of the truck will be in for a full investigation.
The "cage" not so much.
I was trying more to remind others what can happen and happen very fast!
I pray for all involved as this will take along time to heal and effect a whole lot more people that were not even on the scene that night.
Stay safe driver!! -
I've been driving trucks since 1973 and see the number of nonprofessional steering wheel holders increase every year .The Challenger, danny_379 and 123456 Thank this.

I bet the Roehl driver wasn't listening to his CB or he would have been alerted and slowed down .
-
Aww c'mon you're just trying to instigate now.mtnMoma Thanks this.

Tree- yes he is.
Bandit- the media always treats the little guy minivan as the victim of the big guy or trucker.
Rick- guess you in your vast experience never had a situation that you just couldn't avoid? You, I'm sure have always been a professional... this driver may have been doing everything the way he was trained and just happened into one of those situations he couldn't avoid.
Let's all wait till all facts are there. Let's remember this and maintain our safety out there. Stay safe and God Bless! -
my thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in this terrible accident. if we learn anything from this it should be to examine our own driving habits and to reflect on how we all can make a difference out here.
mtnMoma Thanks this. -
Maybe he was listening to the CB, and all of the other truckers never talked about it.
That is happening more and more. -
WHY? Why? What makes people speculate and point fingers when they really don't have the information?????????
Must be nice to be so perfect that you have, never made a mistake, and know everything there is to know. Even when you are clueless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TachItUp, The Challenger, DrFlush and 1 other person Thank this. -
I think you didn't understand my post. The dumb comment was directed at the driver. It was directed to the guy who said that the visibility was 10 miles after it was dark.
