I booked my ticket and will be arriving in San Antonio . I have a return ticket just in case it doesn't work out. That will give me a week to try to find something. I plan to rent a car for a week and head south to Victoria then work my way over to Odessa/Midland.

There's a thread on here by vegaspainter about Thomas petroluem in corpus. Sounds like he gets as many hours as he wants and a decent hourly wage. The way it sounds they'll hire any pulse with a license.

On your way to Victoria, you should perhaps drive down 181 through Kenedy then on towards Victoria. There is a lot of driver hiring going on around Kenedy plus it's not too far from San Antonio and the climate is a little better. San Antonio is a great "large city" to be near for most. Not as difficult to get around in like a Dallas or Houston, but offers anything you could need or want although all the good stuff is on the other side of town.

Make sure you pay attention to the housing/rental situation as you're looking into the employment situation because the massive influx of oilfield workers into these various localized regions are pushing reasonable housing that's fit to live in to the point of "difficult to find". Even many of the trailer parks that have been put together in a matter of a few hours site work are nothing more than mud holes with trailers crammed in like sardines.

Agreed, my son is in Carizzo Springs. Right on with the housing costs. 90% are paying per diem, make sure you get that. Running $85 to $105 / day for folks on the ground and you'll need that or you'll be working for nothing. He's got a 1 room gig for $200 week. Some haulers are paying too.

His crew is migrating east towards Victoria and there's chatter of heading for Kansas soon.

You won't need the ticket home, just some patientce. Locals aren't quite adjusted to the influx so just be cool. If you end up in the Carizzo Area you're within 30 or miles of the border. Buddy up and don't wander off alone. ( Heed )

None of this is a problem to the east in Kenedy or Victoria.

    Good hunting !!

I wish you the best Bikerdave! I really hope you will find something. I am planning to go to Texas in the end of April. Do anyone know where to look on the internet for jobs? I am not talking about craigslist or indeed.. They are worthless.. I am talking about like free wanted ad paper you see in stores every week. and I know every little town have one.. For example, in Williston, ND.. they have shopper.com paper.. Please let as know.. I am looking around San Antonio to midland area..
    Thanks
    Happy Easter!

Look up local newspapers also or do a company search also. There are major oil companies hiring that dont advertise. Check also haliburton that way you can be an evil person LOL>

I have found severalopportunities not on craigslist or indeed. Haliburton, precision drilling, petterson UTI and many others. What I would do is as much research on these companies you find and appl at what you think is right for you.
