I Never Had a ticket to prime. In the beginning I was contemplating there driving school but decided to pay so as not to get locked in. I did have plans to go with KLLM but they wanted more paper work after everything was supposed to be set. Not once, not twice, not thrice, the fourth time i just decided to find something else. Now I will try the Oilfields in Texas. Hoping I can find someone to give a newbie a chance

My new update. After a bunch of runaround about not being able to be hired because of lack of experience for most companies insurance requirements, or low pay/hours to justify never being able to come home for not even 3 days a month. I am now working locally for a tanker company here. I gave Texas a shot and went all over the state. At least I tried. Maybe a week wasnt enough, but I had only 10 days before starting the gig here. So far I am happy where I am at. Good orientation and a great trainer...very laid back but strict at the same time and very patient. For all of you who go to Texas and Look I wish you the best of luck

I will probably go back to Texas after I get some experience under my belt, although if my current company seems okay, and I am pulling a good check, I may stay

Did you hit up all the big companies down there? Places like Thomas, Basic, Key, etc .... everyone wanted experience? .... I'm just not understanding how 2 months ago there was a higher demand then now, is that how it is in the oil fields? just over night the big boom could be over? ..... anyways I'm glad you got yourself something nice going locally, now if you go back you can ask for more money, good things happen with time, congrads bro.

LMAO. Whats wrong with this picture. You came here to Texas looking to get a JOB trucking in the oilfields and left unemployed. There's something wrong here. All of us so called exprienced drivers ##### and moan day in and day out about all of these fresh out of school, no exp, oilfield wanna be's. Evidence, just watch 20 sand trucks get held in line because some fresh out of school driver can't back his rig straight. YOUR BACK GROUND OR SOMETHING MUST BE DIRTY. IT MAY BE YOUR DEMANDS. How much have you been asking for? Maybe they feel you can't handle the work. How fit are you and do you smoke / I know my Co. Will not hire smokers though they would never tell you so.

My background is completely clean,as is my MVR. I did get a few offers for ex. 14.25 an hour in Bigspring every other weekend off and one day during the week. 10 hr shift. I was expecting at least 17 hourly. They were not flexible with the sked it was set in stone. The pay seemed to low and I couldnt even make it home once a month ( asked for 3-4 days) at 17-18 I would have went for it. Another one would pay 15, and the best I found was 17 which was okay, but only 48 hours a week. I went to a few of the big companies as well. Most need some experience according to their insurance carriers. I got some good leads but no call backs or they chose someone else with experience. I am driving a local tanker here to get some experience, and after 6-12 months I will try again. I am very physically fit and I do not smoke. To be fair I must admit I was only there for a week, and maybe that just wasnt long enough. Two days after I got back ( the day before orientation at my present Co.) I did get a call from Gulfmark energy, and again they asked about experience and said to reapply after 6 months. Maybe I was just there a month too late or too early. At least I can say is that I tried and now know what I need to secure employment when I,m ready. I did really like Texas and will most likely end up working and relocating there. @ernest82 Thanks and yes I did go to the major companies also Key, Thomas, Gulfmark. Basic was the one that offered me a place at what I considered too low of a salary to justify being there.

Its good to hear that you landed the local gig to gain some experience. In an industry where experience speaks volumes, I'm sure that in 6 months to a year your results will be much different and doors will open for you down there. :)
