texas cdl special requirements test

One thing to watch out for, especially if you are going to Texas from out of state, is that the book they use is from 20 years ago. They will ask questions about coupling to a trailer, for.example, where, rather than just backing into it and connecting your lines, the correct answer is to back close, connect your lines to supply air to the brakes, then back under. The test assumes all trailers have the old style of brakes that need to be charged to set so the trailer won't move when you hit it.
You would think that they would update but that would make sense right? Everyone that took that test who only did practice tests bombed. Best thing to do is read the book, familiarize your self with it, then take practice tests. But if you don't read the book you are shooting yourself in the foot. Especially when it comes to General knowledge tests, there are over 1000 questions they can ask and I have yet to see a practice test that has all of the questions listed.

Not trying to be a super trucker but according to the driver handbook pg 14-16 appendix a: speed limits that isn't true. Just saying unless you have a ref that says otherwise

Just putting my two cents in here.. I went to take the permit today, they still asked about the nighttime speed limits, correct answer was 65 on rural interstate @ night..

Granted the law has changed since then, but the latest revision of the CDL Hankbook is from Aug. 2010, so that's probably why it is asked..
