My company truck is Domiciled in Missouri, registered, and Licensed in Texas. (Company headquarters is in El Paso)
Because of the Texas registration it must have Texas Inspection.
Does it also need a Federal Inspection? What is the difference?

Similar situation in Pennsylvania, they do require their own inspection that is sufficient to replace federal inspection sticker in other states...

    ...in theory.

Everyone I know just gets the federal inspection sticker too, just not to go thru hustle of other state’s dot trying to ticker them for lack of fmcsa sticker.

As long as it has an inspection once a year you are covered.
Doesn’t matter weather it’s a state inspection or a dot inspection that you do yourself.
I’m am out of ny and do the required by my state
state inspection once a year on my truck.
This satisfies the dot regulations that states you must have an inspection once a year.
Some states don’t have a yearly inspection requirement so in those states you would have to do the federal dot inspection.

brian991219 and Studebaker Hawk Thank this.

Registration does require a yearly TX inspection.

That will cover the dot requirements just fine.

The geniuses at the DMV in Texas, when they thought up the whole gotta get an annual inspection before they will renew your registration really stepped on their crank.
They forgot about the millions of people who live in Texas, or millions of commercial vehicles that are registered there which rarely or never go through Texas. Military personnel for one, companies like Halliburton that have equipment scattered all over the US(and the world).
And the average TX inspection is very thorough. You will be lucky if the guy steps out to check the lights and horn, not much else.

Guys I no in registered in pa. Have to get a pa sticker AND still have to get a annual federal sticker. One is state and one is fed. Not sure if this is the law or just company requirement. But if me I'd spend the $45 get the annual fed sticker just to avoid possible hassle.
