We leased our truck to TSE in March 1998. Paid that one off and bought another one. It finally died a slow death May 2007. At that time my hubby went as a company driver, love the insurance and benefits. He is still there. When he went as a company driver in 2007 the starting pay was .41 cents per mile. Yes they did have a pay cut, and it finally got to the drivers, they were cut 2 cents. Also no raises. He should actually be making .43 cents, but is only making .39 cents and avg 2500 plus miles a week. After deducts, I can take anywhere from $700 to $1000 to the bank each week. Yes, he does have an occasional slow week, but it is usually welcome. TSE's starting pay is now only .35 cents.
That being said, I am starting work at Transport America this week, and the starting pay, with HazMat is .35 cents. If I haul a HM load, then I am paid an additional .04 cents bringing me to .39. The pay has gone down over the last few years, lots of companies are only starting at .30 -.32 cents.

Since your hubby is still there, maybe you can answer some questions. Where does TSE run? I am tired of SNOW! One reason we are moving to Texas is to get away from this cruddy weather up north. 35cpm is what I am getting now. Does that include per diem? 2500 miles a week is pretty average. Home time? We will be about 90 miles west of Ft Worth on I-20 (Ranger, TX). I looked at Google Maps and according to the satellite picture, the yard is very cramped... must be fun getting in and out! What equipment are they running? Do you know if they still do the lease?
Thanks for your help! I would rather talk to someone with experience from the company than a recruiter first! -
Hubby got a call back from them and looks like he be going there wednesday for orientation.
Hopefully all work out,he's been let go from last comp.( see post ;asthma and cdl)
Rush also called him,,,,,,,,, hope he makes a "wise' choice, which one he will decides on.Being unemployed is not paying the bills or feed the Fam.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yesterday, I called Yolanda trying to get information. She asked where we are moving to. I told her. She said that would be fine. I tried to get answers. She just kept saying "go to the website". I had been to the website and needed more information... hence the call! Every question I asked... "go to the website". I gave up. This morning I saw that a recruiter was online to chat. I mentioned the frustration the day before. I was given the manager's number to call. He proceeded to rip me up one side and down the other, saying that where we were moving to was NOT in the hiring area, etc. I was treated SO rudely by these two that I would NEVER consider working for them. He told me that I was so rude, they didn't need people like me to work there. Me, rude? I was just trying to get information! Is that not what a recruiter is for? I will NEVER, NEVER consider this company if this is how they treat people before they even get there!
GreenChile Thanks this. -
My hubby runs mostly a tri state regional area, TX, LA, some OK and MO. This week he is going back to CO. They do run IL, OH, and south east areas. They are owned by EPES Transportation out of NC.
There are some rude people there, but for the most part everyone is nice.
Kingson, I am sorry you are having a bad experience with them. Again, Hubby has been there since 1998, so it can't be all bad. They have their own rules and regulations, that being said, they are alot easier to work with than Transport America, as far as logs go. You do have a fudge factor with them. We have never had a problem as far as pay and miles go. I used to check weekly the settlements against a mileage program, and everything was good. Now I don't even check anymore. (Once cheated, you have a tendacy to be leary).
The yard could be bigger, but it is not as cramped as it looks. My hubby is home every weekend. Of course he has had to "train" his driver manager on this, and personally, I think it is just easier for them to get him home than to deal with him !!!
Hubby is driving an International 9400i, think it is an 08, maybe 09, not sure. They do maintain all the equipment. -
Recently left this company, and while I will miss Payroll and Safety, the people in Operations really need a lesson in how to treat drivers. My truck stayed in the shop more than on the road, the loaner stayed in the shop, and nobody was helpful to defer payments or anything. You walk into the terminal and its high school all over again, rumor mill goes on and on about who does what, and if you wanna know what your dispatcher is doing all day just check his Fakebook page, he'll be signed in all day except lunch. Payroll cared about us who wasn't making money and so did Safety, but Operations cared less, and that's why right now Texas Star is losing drivers left and right.
