Yes. I worked in West Texas and the company I worked for didn't require me to switch my license, but the bigger companies will require you to switch it over within the first 30 days.

Thank you very much for your response. Also, suppose I am hired by a company that requires me to switch my CDL within 30 days. How would I go about doing that if I live in a man camp or in my car? Don't you need a Texas address to get a Texas driver's license? Thank you in advance.

No I still have a PO BOX Address on mines lol. I came down here from Seattle Washington. The Police have warned me a couple times since I have moved to a place; but you don't need one.

You have a Texas P.O Box address on your Washington driver's license? Or a Texas P.O Box on your Texas driver's license?

One huge difference between Texas an ND is weather. I live in SD. ND is usually colder. An earlier poster did a good job of showing how money would work out better in Texas. Assuming all his numbers are right, and I believe they are, factor in weather. If I where going into oil field work, it's a no-brainer. Time to learn spanish! JK. And I have also heard many a story leading me to think it is safer in Texas. ND in many ways seems to be "wild wild west". I have a nephew, while he isn't a driver, does work in the oil industry. He makes well over 6 figures. He offered to resign if his company didn't relocate him back to Wyoming or somewhere. He said between cost of living, crime rate, and traffic issues in ND he just couldn't stay there any more.

Find the closest ups box store, cost 66 bucks for 6 months, for another 15.00 you get a key for 24 hr access to get your mail. I just renewed my hazmat, when I get to TX., I think it,s federal law that you surrender your Wi. hazmat and retest on hazmat. When you move to another state. FYI the ups box store address, is not a po box, it,s a regular address. DO NOT use the box # or suite #, just the address of the ups box store, then you,ll be able to pass backround checks, like tsa.

Do you know of any driving jobs that offer a schedule of 2-3 weeks on and one week off, or something similar? I'm not looking for frac jobs, just driving positions. That would be ideal for my family because at least I'd be home on a regular basis.

I applied for a night shift job in N.D. with them, just got a long email from them basically stating where not moving forward. Then stating please feel free to apply in the future for any job openings for which you would quailify. I applied for a TX. job with them yesterday, it takes about 3 to 4 days to hear back from them. Anyone know what they pay in TX. and do they have housing ? thanks It doesn,t say anything on there website about either. I have over 6 yrs drill rig exp., driving off rd, over 15,000 hrs operating equiptment, cranes, track hoe, drill rigs, etc. Otr driving 1 million miles. Heck I would work in a yard loading trailers, until the work blows up.
