The "TRUCK DRIVER", was a 19 year old driver of a PICK UP TRUCK.
The media keeps saying, it was "A TRUCK DRIVER".
TECHNICALLY, yes, this boy WAS a TRUCK DRIVER. The media CHOOSES to make it seem as if he were a PROFESSIONAL truck driver.

The loss of life, is ALWAYS sad, unfortunate, and AVOIDABLE.

It angers me, when these "accidents", are reported as "a truck driver caused", without making the distinction between a PICK UP TRUCK DRIVER, versus a TRUCK DRIVER. :biggrin_25510:

And there seems to be no shortage of people that agree with this stupid type of law. It's always the "well it doesn't affect me so I don't care" crowd. What they don't realize is it's like death by 1000 cuts. Eventually the nanny state people will propose outlawing something they use or like and then they'll be like "woah wait a minute, I like listening to my radio while I drive". It's just like smoking bans, I don't smoke but if you own the business I feel you should be able to run it as you wish. But no the nanny's outlaw it, who knows what will be next. They've already tried outlawing alcohol, boy that sure stopped drinking didn't it?:biggrin_2559: Some states have already figured out that texting bans don't stop texting, people are just get better at hiding it. Drugs are illegal also but I bet I could get just about anything you wanted in less than an hour, and probably from the local high school (which has drug free and gun free zone signs out front) Banning something doesn't stop it, it drives it underground but it sure makes ignorant people feel better.:biggrin_25526:

The accident would not be sensational if the pickup truck had not hit the back of a truck.

It also would have been nothing except the buses struck the accident and then they were able to get a picture of the bobtail in it to indicate that the truck would have been responsible.

While I am against texting a driving but please provide proof that the reason for the accident was due to texting or cell phone use in general. What I seen was icy conditions. These conditions look to be enough to cause the vehicle to drift slightly which caused an over correction into the vehicle to the right then the slide across into oncoming traffic.

You are funny! Clearly the accident was cause by road conditions and the 4-wheeler sliding across the zipper into oncoming traffic. What does this have to do with texting?

Wish I could find the article but I read that a person is twice as likely to sustain a neck injury while involved in a collision if wearing a helmet due to the increased mass on the head in whiplash type movement. But it keeps your noggin from a floggin.

Picture is below the pick up truck is the tires hanging out of the bobtail/bus snadwich. the boy was to dead for interviewing so the rest is speculation.
But don't let that stop goverenment from wasting a good chance at making drivers look bad and dagerous.

Actually, a properly fitted helmet will reduce neck injury. Not to mention that a head is more likely to survive a 10 mph or higher impact if it is encased in a helmet.

Now that being said, I enjoy my choice to not wear one on the scoot. Now get me on an off road scoot and you won't see me without my brain bucket.

I think you better review the video again and take a closer look.:biggrin_2556:

Break lights on back of SUV were hit how many times and why?

Driver was distracted doing something in a very big way.

While not looking at the road the truck ended up in the wrong lane.

When the Driver relized they were in the wrong lane they panicked and over straired in to the smaller truck and cruched the right hand side front wheel and total lost control, In to the path of the semi.:biggrin_2557:

Texting while driving was suspected by Police after reviewing the video. But because of the accident, the cell phone was destroyed and could not recover evidence to prove that Texting while driving was the cause of the accident.:biggrin_2558:

If you really want to text while driving. Then watch this video if you dear.
