no reason to get defensive on this. but people are judged by what they say and how they say it. it's a sad truth. i wasn't trying to start anything or even offend you in anyway. i just made a statement. and since you bring up the age thing, how old are you? this is a good website with lots of good information and even more good people. this site is clean and honest. if you wanna talk like a trucker get on the cb, if you want to talk like a respectable person , stay around and chat. let me be the first with the welcome to the forum. i'm not here to offend anybody. i come on here to talk to the good people here and learn more info from other good drivers and non drivers interested in the business.
Maybe so, but as I said, all we know is what we see on the screen before us. I don't gripe about typos (Lord knows I make enough of them myself) but I look at how someone phrased things and decide whether to take the time to answer. Words like "Sum" "Da" and "Str8" vice "some", "the", and "straight", tend to indicate to some people whether or not they should take the time to reply.
Starstress, do not ever lease a truck from a company. Buy your own. Before you by a truck, you want to have at least $20,000 dollars saved. Many might say this is too much, but many fail because thet don't have enough. You have to have money saved for repairs to oil changes. It is not cheap, so you want to give yourself the best chance you can. Good luck.:smt040
word.........sorry couldn't resist. but that is the truth. we all meet people daily and we decide if we are gonna talk to them by there attitude and the way they talk. at least i do.
While you may not be writing for your grammar teacher, you should at least take the time to make sure that others reading what you've typed can understand it. You, redrocker, have put up some very difficult to read posts throughout this site. Just think about someone besides yourself. All of our time is valuable to all of us, and if you don't take the time to use better grammar and punctuation then you are in turn taking time away from someone else who has to read your incoherent babble and try to decifer what it is you are saying. Not to mention it makes you look less intelligent. I'm not saying you've got to run a spell check on everything you type, but at least come close to the proper spelling. Lord knows I don't always spell every word right, or use professional writing skills, but at least others can easily comprehend what I'm saying/typing. As far as the purpose of this thread and its original poster, follow the advice given and start off as a company driver first. You definitely wouldn't be the first person who started out in this industry just to find out it's not for you. And wouldn't it suck to be having to continue to make a payment on a truck that's not making money any more until it sells.
look at the strawman making a point. haha. and a good point at that. must be somebody else typing for the strawman. lol. j/k
Posably, but i see his point. My parents spent alot of money so i could spell right.. lets just say it was money spent in vain.LOL Man if i was good at spelling i would have made the deans list... see some ( i am not saying you) see the way i spell and think i am not smart, but everybody has somthing they are not good at. Mine is spelling and gramer in genral.. But i do see your point!
I dont know about all this grammer nonsense, but I do know that going into business for yourself sounds a lot easier than it really is. Buying a truck is one thing, but having the disipline and skills to stay on top of all of the details in being an owner operator takes a lot of focus, just as it does with any other business. I know from experience what its like to have the Internal revenue on your rear end,and believe me they dont back down and can make your life misery that seems to have no end....So before jumping into debt, and going for that truck, make sure you understand the industry well, and have the ability to stay on top.....
