So in fact you agree the principles of the founding of this country are no longer relevant and we have like Rome become an empire with a new set of rules we live by. It is funny you would resort to our foreign aid as our saving grace considering the percentage is a minor fraction to a the spending for military that exceeds the total spending for quite a number of countries below us and more interesting that we invent enemies either by enriching China and selling them all the modern tools and transfer the technology and seeing the results or a bunch of rag tags, also funded by the money we send them for oil, attacked this country by using box cutters which justifies throwing out the rights of Americans and invading a country under a false pretense. Do you really want a democratic country that has blind loyalty and never questions what we do in the world or in this country as a matter of fact? That isn't what a democracy is about and that media you go on about has only one thing in mind and that is to sell advertising, don't care if it CNN or Fox. I don't watch TV and when I do catch it visiting people who are watching it the crass and clever marketing that creates a mind numb population is pretty clear. If you don't see the problems in our country coming from corporate welfare and bailouts that exceed any welfare for the down out and needy then you do spend too much time watching Fox. It is remarkable once again that the people who have fight for this country and then get screwed when the return if the need help, people who question actions taken that are unconstitutional, standing armies not just hear but around the world (perhaps you may remember that was one of the big dislikes of the founders in regards to England). Are we still such an immature country that we can't handle the truth? I have plenty of family members who served in the US military and like I said above, we were even warned by the highest ranking US military man in the last century about heading down the path we have taken. The people in the film also served and are no more "anti" US than I am but are not going to live in the Nazi state you want to create where we do no wrong and want to control what is said by individuals or the media or by golly well throw them in the camps. Another question you may ask, like you, we don't seem to accept democratically elected leaders in other countries that go against our interests yet should be entitled to as much self determination of their counties policies as we are. If our system is so sure fire perfect why can't it hold up to challenges of people who simply want to do more for their poor people which might step on our corporations in their countries toes? If you want empire it is clear what your answer is but I prefer more noble ideas of our founders that respects individuals and their rights to chose.

 

Seebs I totally agree with you and they should be provided whatever services are necessary to help them reenter civilian life after the extraordinary amount of time many have been asked to serve. People don't just don't go home and put all their experiences to bed.
