The nut of this is that there will likely be no more of that, the putting the kids down and such.
You've got to decided if you can leave them and be gone for periods of time.

That's the issue that will lurk and eat away at you later, after the CDL and the first job is in hand.
My kids told me they didn't like it when I was away driving the truck.
They even behaved differently toward me and in general when I was gone.
It is what it is, in the end.

There has always been some bad truckers out there, & there will always be bad truckers out there, yet there has been many good truckers in the past & there's many good truckers out there today!

Sounds as if there's one on here that does not like truckers, & loves to put the truckers down. I suppose there will always be some like him too!

My wife is a trainer at US Xpress. In the last year, only 4 of the 10 trainees are still driving truck.

New drivers and people considering this profession need to be made aware of the realities of this job. I've met lots of top-notch people in my time in trucking and I'm better for having met them. There are jerks everywhere, in every profession and trade.

One of the main problems among people in general is that people who think they understand other people are generally wrong. It's easy to dislike a job for the hours and working conditions and pay but to like the people who work in it, hapless as they may be.
