I use that gear in traffic, instead of low ranging. If I'm heavy, I'll split it too. I don't know why they don't market it as a 14 speed and use the same pattern as some 9 speeds. Four low range and split all five on the high range.
its probably posible had a road ranger 9 speed that had that shift pattern 4 on bottom 5 on top. bolt a spliter box behind it and you would have your 14 speed.
