I didn't say hard, I agree with technique and lube. I lack technique its a job I dread going into it so the outcome is well less than desired.
That's something I've never seen before

i went to a shop one time to get a tire patch on one of my trailer tires. and a short stocky little person (i think that's the preferred term) barely stood taller than the tires. came out carrying the 1in impact and he knocked it out of the park, did it faster than i could have, i was impressed.

Tires are not that bad. Compared to doing your own dental work LOL.

My Dear "semi" retired; I am for real and I aint so tough. I was taught how to change tires because I was tired of getting ripped off at tire shops. Ripped up beads, patches that don't stick or you get down the road and it's low again because the core is leaking and the lazy ####### didn't check it after the repair or mount. I just get so tired of the way things are right here in America! People don't do their jobs right anymore, regardless of the occupation. Now I can't do so many, many things, but thought that I could do tires, .... and BY God I Can !!!!

I had a tire replaced at the Petro in Kingdom City, MO a couple of years ago, and there was a girl in the shop changing out a couple of those little 17.5 tires.
Hi LMC, Just PLEASE, be careful. Tires scare me.( I know, I'm a wuss) Split rims too? Whenever I did a split rim and there wasn't a cage, I'd wrap a chain around and through the rim and tire. I saw a ring come off a tire a guy was fixing for me at a rail yard one night. Ring must have gone 50 feet in the air. ( I hope this doesn't start horror stories of tire accidents)
And you are being humble, you are indeed pretty special!!!:smt023
Lepton got me looking at these truck tire explosions - in and out of a cage. One guy died.
Nope, call me a wuss, but I'll pay somebody..."semi" retired Thanks this.
