I would delay starting my day so I could unload at 2am and hopefully get to a truck stop after that.

I also would no keep booking loads that unload at 2 am. If it's a company truck you can use the ELDs to help get more regular unloading time by logging all hours and see how the company reponds when your out of hours.

I have a regular customer who pays handsomely and his customer dictates when they want his product delivered. His customers appointments range from midnight to noon. I get it done with no bellyaching to my customer. Which I'm sure is why it's regular business for me, I just have to adjust how I do things a little bit, and in this case that will mean delaying the start of my 14 hour day in order to keep the money flowing the way it is.

I don't have a dispatcher to call to solve whatever my dilemma of the day is. I am dispatch. It is up to me to keep my customers happy and not give them any reason to call someone else. And here we have a situation where before yes I may have colored outside the lines a little. And now I will do it completely by the book. And the end result will be a more tired version of me when I must delay beginning my day so I can get it done all within that precious 14 hour window. I feel so much safer now.

Like you said it's something new and you will adjust to doing it. The driving and sleeping will be the new normal and if the customer is paying you good money for your time and the truck you choose to keep doing it.

It not a bad thing if that's what the customer want and is paying you enough for your time. That's what it take to get the job done and run legal. I would not do it because I don't like driving like that, unless they were willing to pay above the normal rate.

Once your empty your basically have to take another 10 hours off. So they are using the truck and trailer and driver for 24 hours. If they are willing to pay for that I don't see any wrong with 2am delivery.

If they think they are going to pay for 9 hour trip that's maybe 500 miles and only pay for 500 miles then I would not do it because to it basically screws up the next day because you can't driver till you get another 10 off.

I will not punch in one minute before my start time. If you punch in at 8:29 and out at 8:29 you have to do a log. I might need that minute. :)

Havnt had a shower or even be able to get out of the truck in 4 days Was able to make time for this daily before. Not being able to eat when I want. It been down to the last minute everyday. I have to do my split breaks at the shipper and on the lease roads every time. Ive run out of hours on the lease road and had to do the last couple of miles at 3mph. Ive seen at least two others doing this also. This is exhausting

Truck stops seem emptier than normal? maybe its because of christmas or because no one has the hours to make it to a truckstop

Telling everyone and their brother to go buy an exempt truck, every one knows they exist so leave it be.

Most won't make it with an exempt truck it isn't the peaches and cream you dream about

And new trucks are not peaches and or cream. Not since the EPA started saying how the engine needs to run. If there were no mandates. I still would not like new trucks. So what is your point?

How long exactly you been beating up and down the road?

My point shooting your mouth off like a shotgun at clay pigeons could cost owner operators like me a helluva lot of money. What the #### do you care it's not yours right?

Give me an old well maintained truck any day over a new one... I have one of of the DPF trucks, it nearly bankrupted me due to all of the issues. I eventually did the Milk Money tune and rid myself of that issue. Then the fun began, in frame time. Now it is just a matter of general maintenance. These new trucks have been cheapened so much, I honestly would not recommend buying one. Give me an old Series 60 or N-14.

Sure. I've owned 4 or 5 trucks. But right I'm private contractor with company truck. So I guess my life is fabulous.
