The point is the 200K may get down easily to be 80K pocketed income when all costs considered. If you're able to keep half of that revenue then you're doing all right. If leased - on then they will sure take 15-20% from that 200K ...trailer rental could be in addition to that too.
whoopNride and double yellow Thank this. -
If it’s a few hundred per month for individual coverage, that’s negligible in the long run I suppose. I know health insurance cost is a huge topic today, but I’ve never had it.

In 2015 I was leased on to an outfit that did LTLs to the West Coast. Me revenue was 215K on 140K all miles or close to it. I got left with 85K. I would have kept more but in the last week of that year I replaced the turbo and its cooler and that was a 7.5K spent in one day. There was an add on Satellite Radio by Walmart at the time, that their first year drivers are making 80k too + health insurance and benefits.
But I could not work for Walmart, I can't bend like that. So it did not bother me.double yellow Thanks this. -
Im assuming it's lower this time around due to actual states travelled?
If thats the case, did you get a refund/adjustment? -
They calculate it different way for me now, based on actuall miles traveled for the last 2 qtrs of 2016 and the first 2 of 2017. What states you travel in matters too. But when you start off they do so called estimates, that's why I had to pay that much in 2014 - I also declared Id travel all over 48 states. They might have changed the way they calculate that fee for current new IRP applicants, but I would not know that.

I was wrong....completely.... my first year (partial year)... was
$ 1,575.00
the subsequent years were about 2K.
Truck Insurance $ 2,181.00 bobtail
Truck registration $ 1575
Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax $ 550.00Last edited: Mar 12, 2018
nax Thanks this. -
Wht are you paying so much for bobtail? Or are you including physical damage in that figure? My bobtail cost me twenty bucks a month.
-
Yes.
That was my first year when I bought the truck in 2014. I went to Progressive and paid that for bobtail liability and physical damage...I did not really shop around, the declared value was 55K. I thought it was normal at the time.nax Thanks this. -
Now I am paying also to Progressive 1k per 6 months for the same truck (declared value 30K) and trailer declared value 25K but only for physical damage. I have cargo, auto and general liability somewhere else that's 8.5K per year.nax Thanks this.
