I have 4 units currently with the TK APU. Jury is still out but I’m leaning towards more of a driver comfort then an actual savings.
I will say having the artic fox fuel tank heaters, it’s nice to know as coolant circulates the motor and therefore fuel, that we’re gonna be fine no matter what considering the batteries are also being charged. Meanwhile the driver can do as he pleases and be comfortable and powered up for any gadgets.
I hadn’t looked at this Gen 3 but I’m sure as I order more trucks the TK guys will keep me apprised. I’ll be interested to know the differences.

Definitely worth having all year round. Winter it charges batteries for bunk heater and summer a/c.

The way I’ve always looked at it is that if you’re doing a reset or layover at least twice a month away from the house, an APU is worth it, BUT you have to stay in the truck for that time versus springing for a hotel or camping at a friends place. I can understand the peace of mind as far as keeping the batteries up and the fuel warm as well, but that really shouldn’t be an issue if you’re staying on top of things. That can change quickly though when you add a driver that isn’t you into the equation.
I’ve always liked the battery APU stuff though. Sure it works the alternator harder but an extra battery bank to run HVAC and a few other comforts (TV, microwave, etc) for just a 10 is pretty smart I’d say.Siinman Thanks this.
