I'm into finding new things, and new ways to do things when it comes to ones' body. So, I picked up The 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferriss, and what a book!

There is great information on losing fat, gaining muscle, and a host of other things. Most of the things, many people will scoff at, because it's not "conventional". However, he backs up everything he says with scientific studies, or by using himself as a guinea pig and doing before and after blood work.

I'm trying the slow-carb diet, and the geek-to-freak experiment as of this week, and we'll see how that goes. If anyone else picks up the book, post in here and let me know what you think of it, and if you're going to try anything from it.

Hell, even if you think the things in the book are completely wrong, post that here, and let's discuss it.

Disclaimer - *No, I have no financial incentive in this, as I've never met Tim Ferriss before, and probably never will. I'm just passing on a great book that helps to get the most change from ones' body, whilst doing the least to get it.*

Where would be an easy place to get this book while "on the road"?

    I've already got a "4-Hour Body".

Every time I go to the doctor, that's how long he says I'll last!

(But seriously...thanks for the tip....I'll research it and see if it's good for me!)

I would imagine any larger bookstore might have copies. The author has a previous book out on business called The 4 Hour Workweek, and it became a New York Times best seller, so he at least has some popularity and as such there's more of a chance of his new book being in more stores.

    Just a quick update.

Because of being on the road, I had to drop the Geek to Freak experiment. However, the wife and I are working the Slow-Carb Diet, and here are the results 6 days in.

    Me: -5lbs.
    Wife: -5.5lbs

Our cheat day is tomorrow, so tomorrow morning we`ll see if the weight has dropped anymore.

One thing I've noticed, is the lack of different tastes while on the road became monotonous quickly. So, it appears I need to become educated in spices and herbs really quick. hehe

The wife has been enjoying this diet immensely, and noticed she's never getting any urges to binge like before. Also, she's been having fun with coming up with ideas on how to prepare the food and make it taste great. This morning she made me an omelet of eggs, lentils, peppers, onions, and avocado, using sea salt, pepper, and garlic for flavoring, and hot ####, was it ever good.

As the weeks go on, I'll keep up the updates to let you all know how this is working. Also, when I have a chance, I'll be going and having my blood work done, just to show that this diet is a safe diet, and is actually healthier than the normal ideas of eating.

So, anyone else grab the book yet? :biggrin_255:

Okay, I had to post this.

This morning the wife and I weighed in before the cheat day begins. We both lost another 2 lbs since yesterday. So that means:

    wife: -7.5lbs in one week
    myself: -7lbs in one week

I know many will think I'm either lying, or so it's unsafe, or whatever. All I say, is read the book, and try it for yourself. If you have any questions beforehand, you can get a lot of the info from the author's webpage, http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/ without even getting the book.

Not that I have a weight problem....But IIRC....If you lose too much weight too fast...You'll gain it all back....plus.....

I'm on my own weight program....it's called "Flatbedding".....:biggrin_25525:

If the weight loss is done by restrictive dieting, then yes, you'll gain it all back. However, there are loads of scientific studies out now showing that fat loss does not have to be done at 2lbs/week to be a safe loss. And, with the slow carb diet, there's no reason to ever get off the diet, so there's no worry about a rebound effect.

Also, I'm a flatbedder too. Super-Bs. And I'm still overweight a touch, and I know of many 300+lb flatbedders. For those who are willing to make some rather easy changes, this could be the way to actually stop the ever expanding waistline.

But, again, I'm just talking as an enthusiastic user of the system. If others are too skeptical to even look into it, then so be it. I'm not doing this to change the minds of those who are stuck in old methods of thinking. I'm just putting this out here to let people know it works, and that they can look into it and try it, and see for themselves.

Man, with the way I promote this book, I SHOULD be making some commissions. :biggrin_2559:
