Forgive me for jumping in, but I was skimming the post and couldn't resist.
I have to agree with Lady K /IF/ you are into any long, faster cardio (running, swimming, etc.). Your body uses the stored glycogen to get past that wall and keep going. Using good glycogen (whole grains and vegetables) is a must; the sugars (including fruits) won't do it.
I should have the actual scientific data, but it's quarter to one in the morning and I'm just waiting for my better half to stop driving for the night, so this is as good as it gets. *grins*
But I am going to go look up that book-- thanks, THD.![]()

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you Trilleth. The body can use fat for any cardio activity. It may take as much as 2 weeks or so before one gets used to not using carbs from poorer sources, but once the body is used to it, it actually excels.
Grains(in particular, gluten) are actually not good for most people. They just don't realize it since it's been stuffed down our throats by gov'ts and companies for years. It's not that we couldn't always eat grains. However, our stomachs nowadays don't have the amount of probiotics that they used to, to be able to ingest grains and still be healthy.
The best way to find this out in your own life, is to go 2 weeks without any grain products. Then, go and eat some. I tried this myself, and found my stomach getting distended, bloated, and it just plain hurt, once I tried ingesting breads after 3 weeks without. It`s quite easy to experiment on your own body to find out if the information I`m presenting is the same for you as it is for most. -
*smiles* I don't do a lot of grains. I was talking fruits and veggies. But I don't mind agreeing to disagree either.
I still plan on reading the book when I get a chance. Library didn't have it, so it'll have to go on the "someday" list for now. -
Everything this man has said is true. The 4-hour body has changed my life. Two years ago i was put on high blood pressure meds. I knew I had to lose weight and tried many of the usual diets. none worked, it's easy to blame being on the road but, not only am I losing weight, the meals are cheaper! and if you a trucker you should definitely have a kindle or e-reader by now. P.S. I lost 17 lbs in the first three weeks.

You're sooo right on the cheaper aspect, drowley7. I used to pack food, and still spend about $50/week buying crappy things, or convenience items when I was in a rush. Now, I take all my food with me(chicken breasts, pork, beef, lots of beans, lots of lentils, lots of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, 2 dozen hard boiled eggs, bags of spinach), and the only thing I've bought on the road in the last 4 weeks is my morning coffee. Eating this way has curbed every desire to snack while driving.
Also, as a side note, the book is no longer available at Costco. Costco pulled it due to the chapters involving better sex(Titled "The 15 Minute Female Orgasm"). I guess they didn't like the diagrams showing how to please a woman.

Now I just might have to get it off the "someday" list and onto the "immediate needs" list.
TheHealthyDriver Thanks this. -
And,when you get it,would you send me the part on "how" to please a woman?? Lets see,I am 51,Soooooo,I have been trying to do just that, with not much sucess, for 37 years.....HELP ME??

*pats* You can't do that as long as you listen to your other brain. It just doesn't happen. But we (speaking for my gender) appreciate you making the effort.
Lady K Thanks this.
