Mainly because the majority are not worth much as a new recruit with a CDL.... CDL's are a dime a dozen. YOU are mere meat, until you prove yourself.

If you or I were a Business owner, paying top wages,,,,who would you hire. A PROVEN PRO, or a rookie? I'd go with proven!

I’ve seen proven pros screw up all the same!

No Doubt.... Though if you go with the law of averages... who would you hire? Who wuld you get better insurance rates with? A Seasoned Pro.... or a noob? Remember....This is your business! A newly printed CDL driver, unproven on the roads...or a veteran driver?

None of the above, because I would do it myself. That way if something happens it’s on me and only me.

OK.... I was looking at it from a Carrier's point of view, or fleet owner....etc....
If I was a a small to medium fleet owner.... NO way am I hiring a new CDL driver to operate my investments.
Heck, so many quit and abandon the trucks or hit things.... the list goes on.

Well at my exhalted place of work we’ve had a bumper crop of accidents involving drivers that have had as many as 20+ years behind the wheel(mostly involving driver fatigue).
Experience doesn’t always guarantee safety. Something like that could happen to anyone of us at any time.

I once heard the head of safety for a company say " A rookie will curb tires, knock the mirrors off and tear off mudflaps but the real big accidents are caused by someone with at least a year of experience "

I had to say Werner. If it wasn't for them, the other companies wouldn't have "E-logs" to deal with.
