Well, putting in my two weeks has caused a good bit of strife where I currently live, apparently once I am no longer working (Even though I been prehired and will be going to school 60 hours a week) I will be kicked out. So It looks like im crashing at a friends if I can get ahold of him, moving into the school rooms a few days early (if the guy will let me) or crashing in my car for a few days

Bummer, but makes sense I suppose. Just a bump in the road. Before you know it, you'll be at school.
-
That it is, like I said, once I start training I think my only fears will be getting the body functions in check, and making it through the six weeks with a complete stranger in a tiny truck.

OK, So how many "pre-hires" should those of us going to school get and how soon before we go do you recomend getting them? Been talking to one with a school of there own but read alot of HORROR stories about them. Also been checking into a C/C in the area.
Any input GEARS? -
As far as pre-hires, I at least get a couple, but do your research though. Only apply at places you'd consider working at. I know, I know....there's a ton of horror stories out there. Remember...there's two sides to every story. Some guys post positive regarding the company they signed with. Send a PM or two to some of them and get the inside scoop. I never looked into a community college when I got my license. There's a couple private schools in the area and I visited both and made my decision from there.
TruckerDragon and Wanna drive Thank this. -
You can go to Layover.com and fill out one application and from there it will be sent out to several companies.
You might be surprised at who replies.Wanna drive Thanks this. -
Went down to the C/C a couple weeks ago. Yep they have a class room with a big screen, a paved parking lot at an abandoned factory to do the yard driving. and they drive around town, on back Ky roads, and I tink they even hit I-75. The instructor has 20ish years OTR his wife is the lady in the office. The best part is it's only about 30 min. from the house! NO HOTELS! The bad part is I will be out for about 8 more weeks due to knee surgery. How bad will that hurt my chances of gettin a job? minor meniscus tear. Talked to the Doc and he said I will pass the DOT physical with no problems. But, I don't mean to take away from the thread. Sorry for the run on.
