Just an update for all of you. Parked the truck lastnight for some home time after being out for 3 weeks with my mentor. That would be mentor in title only unfortantely. I am alittle disappointed in his professionalism but hes a perfect example of what not to be when it comes to setting the image of a profesional driver. The driving is going very well have mastered lane posistion and shifting up and down. Fallowing distance is a little bit of a challenge when you have people cutting in front of you and closeing that gap but thats all a part of driving I suspect. I'm very proud of my backing skills. Was able to preform a blind side alley witch my mentor didn't want to try himself. Just have to remember (GOAL) Get Out And Look. His personal hygine is absolutly disgusting but its only 2 more weeks and I will be running my own truck. At that time I will be not only representing the company I drive for but also representing the trucking industry as a whole before the public eyes. I will continue to utilize the professional attitude and skills which I learned while in the miltary. Was caught in the big blizzard of 2011 and trapped for 48 hours in the Iowa 80 truck stop. Never seen weather like that before but we survived and learned how to use common scense as far as when to park it and when its not safe to travel. Was very happy to be able to leave there without leaving all my money with them. For those that are thinking of getting into trucking let me say it a decission that I'm glad I made. Till next time drive safe and god bless.![]()
