I would rather run to Albany from Charlotte. I made a mistake and took US23 from Anderson, SC to Columbus, OH. Never again would I run that route.

Have run down that road as far as Pikeville,Ky fairly regularly. So I'm guessing that below Pikeville crossing the mountains is what blows chunks.

Well ran all over backwoods Georgia today. Delivered to Albany this morning, then picked up my next load and got it delivered tonight. When I went to drop the trailer I couldn't get the fricking pawl on the ratchet handle to engage the cog wheel, I must have left my 3lb sledgehammer at home so I was beating on it with the butt end of my 4D Maglite until I I popped the bulb out of the socket holder and then realized I wasn't gonna get anywhere doing that.

So, luckily the gear were greased and moved smoothly enough that I could turn just the shaft of the handle with my gloved hand, but after 5 minutes of doing this and only getting the gear halfway down I was really starting to lose my patience. I couldn't find any way to jam a screwdriver or other tool into the cog to lock it so that I could engage it enough to crank it down.

Then, I had a beautiful moment of redneck engineering insight - I took my glove off, wedged it in between the cog and the pawl, and let them "suck" the finger of the glove in between them, and what do you know, PROBLEM SOLVED.

Wonder if SEM will actually send anyone out to fix that one. I hate those stupid ratchet handles, they are so friggin useless, the only thing they do is cause us grief.

The only empty there was in ROUGH shape and was full of water from the doors being left open during the heavy rains, or a roof leak that I couldn't spot. Decided to pass over that one, unfortunately it was the only empty left in the yard. Luckily, got a trailer search that is en-route to my next pickup.

Time to see where to next.

    Grijon Thanks this.

The nice thing about the ratchet handles is they don't bend as much. Since the "old" handles were so thin and hollow I could easily bend the piss out of it if the landing gear was jammed.
