Man this is a bunch of bull**** as ****ing usual in the NE.

So, finish my restart, load is supposed to be ready at 1200 today. Just a half a mile or so down the road from the truckstop, if even. So, I am going to be efficient with my time and pretrip and fuel at same time especially since I'm just bobtail.

So I do. Then I go down to the customer and sit at the gate and get told "the warehouse and the dock are fighting the load hasn't even been started yet".

Was supposed to be ready at 1200 today. Right when I showed up. I ask how long and she says at LEAST 4 hours if not longer.

Well ok if I had just pretripped no problem I would have just edited it out, .5 mile back to truckstop, and sat. Sucks, but no biggie.

But no, because I put in fuel, now I can't edit out the preptrip or regulatory will throw a fit since it would be showing fueling off-duty. So now I sit back at the truckstop watching my 14 burn away and who knows maybe even lose one of my preassignments depending on how long I sit here because I may not be able to get it delivered in time back in NC.

****ing bull*** I get so sick and tired of getting ****ed over by these idiot excuses of customers that we pull for that cost me God-knows-how-much in wasted time.

Log it sleeper berth while you're waiting at the truck stop. That will stall out your 14 hr clock until you start back up again. As an IC you are allowed to log splits, so if you do that it'll be just like your 14 hour clock is "paused" until you get going again. Hell, even as a company driver the qualcomm allows us to log splits, it's just that I'm sure regulatory would throw a fit if we actually did it. But as an IC you'll be fine. Pretty sure you need to log 2 hrs in SB before the rule starts (14 hr clock will keep ticking until you hit 2 hrs in SB, then the time should go back on your clock).

Since that is a customer screw up and you had an appointment time and made it on time will you get paid for this? If you got on the load board and found another load would you get to pull that and not get charged for the other load? I am trying to get an idea of what to expect in a situation like this. It seems to me the customer is the one losing as they are being childish with their product being shipped.

Probably won't be able to get detention out of this one - as a choice IC detention doesn't start paying until 6 hours after the appointment time... either way thats half of my day gone before I see a single penny.

You sure about this? I never heard about ICs being able to log splits like that.

Depends. If I showed up and the customer said nope we don't have the load at all, we don't need you, I get $150 for a "vehicle not used fee". Since the load just isn't ready, it gets tricky I guess. If I wanted to have the load pulled and take something else they wouldn't charge me for that. I've had that happen before with a HD load that got pushed out a day. Called in and said I wasn't willing to sit, so they pulled it off of me. I probably could have gotten the $150 for that too, but it was the first time it happened and I didn't think to ask.

I looked for another load on the load board and nothing popped up. I got a call from the guard and she is trying to be helpful, there is another load going to the same place that is ready now, but when I called and asked about it they said it was preassigned to another choice driver. My ICA messaged that other driver to see if they would be willing to switch loads since mine should be ready by the time he arrives, but I haven't heard back yet.

They are trying to make it work, can't blame SNI, can't blame the guard, just customer BS. Really more frustrated with elogs than anything...

I will do that with problem customers, unfortunately didn't think twice about it because I've never had issues with this customer (the customer itself, not this one location in particular). They tell us not to call customers, but I do at times and drivers do call customers all the time, its just more of a "cover your ***" thing for SNI because lets face it many of these drivers are better off NOT being the face of SNI when it comes to dealing with customers.

I'm 95% sure IC's can log splits. What I'm not sure about is the actual rules about logging splits. I'm vaguely familiar about split logs but I wouldn't know how to run that way effectively without figuring it out first. I do know if you log SB the 14 hr clock stops on the qualcom after 2 hrs in that status.

You can call the customers if A) they give you the correct phone number to call, or B) you can figure out the correct number to call if they give you the wrong number.

I have used to split sleeper berth many times their previous companies. it's not hard to do if you do it properly, however I'm not sure the e-logs are capable of doing it
