The biggest joke is spending $7,000 to talk 15 miles
Rakish the cb man Thanks this. -
You know, I don't often pay attention to this forum, so I really don't know all the drama. I'm just chiming in to say that, yes the "golden screwdrivers" really screw over drivers, the better "techs" are few and far between. After coming back out on the road, was off for almost 4 years, I've found that most of the so called shops out here don't know crap. I hear drivers splatter all over the bandwidth and be proud of it, cause they "gots a big loud radio that does x watts". Big freaking deal. I would rather have a radio the pushes less wattage and actually sounds good.
Yes, I run a "export" radio. I am looking to buy another one. No, the one I run now doesn't push a lot of wattage, but what it does is sound good and loud on the channel I'm talking on. No bleed over, no splatter, no garbage signal. The two radios I've cut it down to for my next purchase but top out around 20 watts, if they are pushed wide open. I don't need more than that out of a radio.
Sure, there are radios on the market that have these "built in amps". I personally feel they are nothing but a gimmick. If for what ever reason I need more wattage, I'll go buy a good quality amp and have everything matched up correctly. I don't need the guys on 19 to hear me when I'm talking on 30.
Back to the subject, I think we should call out all these rip off scammers who do this junk to drivers. They will always be out there, sure, but if more drivers knew what to look for they wouldn't be near as successful as they are.Rakish the cb man and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Here's another butcher.

The idiot doesn't even know what sort of test equipment he has on his bench.
He calls his antique Hickok signal generator a "Hickok analyzer" but he failed to mention he doesn't have a scope to view the output waveform. He uses the term bird meter and bird watts. Its kinda hard to tune something if he can't see what he's doing -
Hello everybody did you miss me
