Intructor in first day of backing class inadvertently trained the class to keep moving until something very happened.
Lo and behold Im in there idling back in bottom gear. You know that will take a while. I finally understood something and stopped at that spot.
Everyone leaned forward to see what I hit because there was air all around that rig. Instructor came out said what is the problem? You said keep moving unless I heard something very bad.
Instructor: [this word, combined with profanity and expressed with that sentiment does not mean your mommy and daddy were bad. Keep going back, don't be so #### slow.]
I spent that day evaluating that instructor. I had to think about everything that came out of him. The words that is.
That was not the instructor I needed to worry about. There turned out to be another. He prefaces everything with a roared version of my Last name if I am to be in trouble. If I am doing well when I am actually doing it, I don't exist. =) I wonder sometimes if he is still with us. It's quite a few years. I would hope so he had a family back home.
For those who have trouble, I had my parentage insulted by going way way too slow and holding up the apparent pace of backing class which was 21 of us and probably will break for lunch in about 5 hours time more or less.
The backup camera situation?

Tell this guy about the camera. He will laugh at you. Talk about a skilled truck driver. Notice his attitude. Remarkable. Doesn't care about having to block traffic, just stayed calm and got it done! Amazing!
Anyone here ever backed into something like this? And if so, how long was it before you could do something like this?

Used to have to deliver to a gas station in downtown Fairbanks Alaska with a 53-foot tanker it was so tight getting in there was horrible and I had to back out from under the pumps across the street into a church parking lot through traffic to be able to make the turn to get out of there. Thank God I only delivered there about six times then I switch from local to OTR and never had to go there again. -

If you're worried about self-driving trucks you need not in your lifetime, I know they have some test out right now but trust me you'll die an old man before self-driving trucks become the norm. -
