I started out driving for Little Audrey's, back then most of the companies you see now were small at best. Navajo was a real freight company, Along with Delta, McClean, Sam Tanksley. We maybe dating ourselves. Then the government deregulated Trucking which allowed the cut throat games to begin, before that you had to be able to show a profit when you bid on a contract. Now no one cares and it shows.

How about Bud Meyer Truck Lines in Lake City, MN ???? I was leased to them for a few years and made #### good money...then Covenant bought them out ruined everything...
I was leased to Nestle after Bud Meyer that was an easy gig but my dispatcher was new so my miles weren't what they should have been.. -
Not only a lot of truck load carriers who are gone but how about the great LTL carriers that have bit the dust since deregulation?
-
Monfort , Greenstien and Circle C are a few I remember back in the early 80's . I can't remember that darn Green something . Someone will help me out .
In 82 I ordered a brand new Pete . The salesman asked me how do wanna spec the driveline and I said for speed and it better pull .
Well it did both for sure . Kept the truck till 87 and traded her in .
Back then we really never thought about fuel mileage like we all now ..
Hmmm.. Greenstien

Anyone remember when Gateway Transportation bought Maislin Transport?
Or the LTL carrier Werner Continental. Werner Transportation (not the Omaha one) bought Continental merged and became a pretty big LTL carrier
Those were the days when a carrier had to have authority to run in specific areas. Carrier authority went for big bucks so it was easier to just buy a carrier who had areas that you wanted to expand into.
