The race to the bottom continues. Next thing you'll hear is companies fighting over 50 cent a mile freight.

Another company with all of their eggs in one basket. Lose their primary customer, lose their own company.

Adapt or die and that's how this business has always been .
Alot is the newbies that came in for the feast of 2018 and the market is adjusting now .
And yes well still some more mismanaged carriers go down yet that lacked foresight.
Well positioned carriers that didnt take on debt and race to add equipment will be fine .
I'm no genius but looked at upgrading a year ago and very glad now I didnt as I'd have lost 10k in a year on truck value .
And it ain't over yet .

Rogers was a good carrier but like @kemosabi49 said, they had most of their eggs in one basket.
They were union so the higher operating costs demanded they stick to high paying freight. There just isn't enough of that around any more.
    Sorry to see them go.

Depends on who you ask. Companies with a lot of customers will say there is a shortage. In any event, like the other guys said, diversification is key!

Exactly. The majority of the stuff we haul is refrigerated but we also haul dry goods and hazmat.

Its amazing when Pappy gave me loads sometimes in the day back then. Not necessarily reefer loads. But hazmat and some other stuff now and then. It was not all eggs and butter.

I think it was good to be loaded any way you can. Oh wait... that did not come out right in english.

    bzinger Thanks this.
