Look at how many drivers go through the training programs of the mega carriers each month and year.
Many are kept on, and many are rejected for various reasons. And let's not forget that a certain red refrigerated mega carrier from Salt Lake City is running trucks with THREE bunks.

Also you cant forget the ones that realize they arent cut out for this and quit.....and that company from SLC, once they con those newbies into leasing, they will hate trucking and quitDoealex, mjd4277, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.

well, that's thier problem, depending on maybe all of that on one customer.
tough, but hey, thier own fault.x1Heavy and bryan21384 Thank this. -
I really like Mark from Trucking Answers, your driver shortage myth host.LtlAnonymous and bryan21384 Thank this. -
I dont all the way agree with this guy. Maybe CR England packs 3 in a truck because they anticipate turnover, not that they dont know what to do with them. CR is going to make them team or lease, they know what they are going to do with the excess....the nameless company lol.....also, if you dont work ar McDonald's you dont get paid. Trucking is the same way, if there arent any loads, even if you go hourly, who's is going to pay anybody just for sitting when there are so many costs to operate a trucking company? I dont think going hourly would be a good thing. Companies are not going to pay drivers 24 hrs a day 7 days week just because we are away from home, it seems to be the vibe I get. Itll probably be up to 70 hrs a week, and they will make it where it's about 1000 or so dollars week you take home, if that, after taxes. People get fed up with trucking because they set their expectations too high.mladen86, bzinger, Doealex and 1 other person Thank this.

Hourly pay for truck drivers would be under ten an hour, they'll sell it by advertising that they pay you 24/7 no matter what, nobody, or few, will do the math and figure out 8 dollars an hour for 24 hours isnt great.Doealex, x1Heavy, bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this.

The way you put it is exactly how I envision it. You cant treat OTR like its LTL. 2 different worlds.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Then the rates will go down further, the worst thing for over the road would be hourly pay.Doealex and bryan21384 Thank this.
