Anyone that hauls these brokers crap for low rates is a fool... I had a Buddy call me to haul a load of out houses ... 405 miles.. I quoted him 1300.00.. he told me that his boss was wanting to get it done cheaper than that.. I told him to call JB hunt... He called me back later telling me that JB Hunt actually came in higher than I did.. they came in at 1400... So you see whenever you call on a load and they tell you that's all they have in it... all that is, is so that they maintain their mandated company prophet margin... J B Hunt would have in turn put that on their load board and for a max freight rate of 600 to 700 on that load.. leaving them a prophet of 700 to 800 on the load... Although they did not secure this load nor did I... my friends boss just had him go with the one ton and do a couple rounds..... So every one of us need to stick to our guns and force these brokers to pay up or sit on their freight.. I guarantee you it wont be long and they will either comply or go out of business.. And its not their fault its the owner operators for doing this for such pathetic rates... NO CHEAP FREIGHT
The broker is sweating

Near as I've been able to figure, JB's rate is somewhere between $2.40 and $2.85, depending on where it is and where it goes....
I'm sure they have customers paying north of $3 a mile as well, and just how many are close to $4, well, that's what I'd really like to know... probably not many, but I'd love to spend a day looking at their computers...lol.... -
I'd love to hear what others think JB's average rate is, just out of curiosity...

They have program for independents to be paid on a percentage basis. They have to by law reveal all charges, as do other regulated carriers, to contractors who get paid on a percentage basis.

There could be a catch to that. They could be dispatching those trucks from their brokerage. JB has a load for lets say $3.00 a mile, they take $1.00 a mile off the top and hand it down to their brokerage who in turn gives it to the truck that is paid on percentage, by law they would only need to produce documents from the brokerage side. There are plenty of ways to skin a cat.trees Thanks this.

Exactly, JB is going to protect their trade secrets..... rates are closely guarded information....
