Interesting thread. I do believe things have changed a bit over the years. I remember back in the mid to late '60's, maybe even early '70's when a derailment sent several train cars loaded with Chrysler products into the Arkansas River in Colorado.
The cars involved in the "drownings" were recovered, shipped on to dealers where they were dried out, body damage repaired and sold as new.:biggrin_25513: Business as usual for those times.:biggrin_25510:

That seems to be a Ford issue. Had some VPG's on(essentially a Ford) & the back glass blew out while I was parked. Matter of fact, had been parked since Sat. evening & this happened Monday morning around 5 am. It woke me & the two trucks parked beside the trailer. Assumed I was screwed & had just bought a back window. Called back to VPG & they finished my sentence... They knew it was a issue & had tried to address. Just asked for the code on the glass & to deliver it as is.

One of the guys that was there at the t/s that morning mentioned some years ago Ford had issue with rear glass in Explorers or Expeditions too.

Do not back on the over head:

Here are a few that I know of:

KIA Soul 2009 and up (windows blowing in), Nissan Pathfinder and Infinity JX 2013 and up (same window issue), and Mazda Miata hard top (never saw a memo on this one-was just told about it)

Back then you could do that without cooking all the computer chips in them ...... back then you could also fix 90% of the cars problems in your yard. Remember when ? Those were the days, eh ? ..... That Jimmy in my avatar .... I rebuilt that 4 bolt main 350 4 barrel myself with the exception of punching new cyl holes.

You just jarred up an old memory...Back when I drove, Anchor Motor Freight, Ridgefield, NJ (Little Ferry) Conrail yard. Now I think CSX? Anyway, the yard was lower than the swampland around it. When a storm hit on high tide, this was salt water, the yard would flood. Conrail would not move any units to high ground, neither would Anchor. There were units with water over the roof. I saw them dry the units out and ship them!!!! Saw it happen and delivered some of them. Amazing stuff

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't that rail head still exist ? Right beside the Vince Lombardi ?

    Ford F-150 - all. 2013.

Look on the right side of the roof, 2nd and 3rd 'rib' in ........ there is almost always a little white mark. Looks like grease pencil. Can't put your figure nail in it like a scratch, and it won't rub out. I'm marking it as 37 (39?)-09-1 which is roof-scuff-less then 1"

I had 2 today like that and 3 last week. So have other drivers here.

Always be careful that the delivery document damage codes match what you wrote up at loading time...and some codes cross and cover others but only one way. For example dealer writes L/F door chip 10-09-1, on load sheet you have 10-12-1 Covered. Dealer writes 10-12-1 and you have 10-09-1 Nope not covered. 12 scratch covers a 09 chip but not the other way around. 09 chip covers 34 edge chip...not the other way around. Unless the mfrs. have changed...34-1 panel edge chip is warranty unless it is on a 10 L/F door.

TIME STAMP AS 01-May-2013 .. I just heard thru other sources that a whole bunch of Hyundai Santa Fe's have been rail damaged on-route. Destinations unknown. Main culprits seem to be CN and UP lines. Likely hump yard issues. Damages are bad enough that some cars are being pulled out of trains to have to loads re-loaded and re-chocked. Apparently on some rail cars, there was nothing left of the chocks ... ! Look for damages to Santa Fe's. Minor to severe. Also be aware of anything that looks like it has had in-transit repairs done, because as we all know, that can lead to damages elsewhere.

    FYI
