I love it when the railroad has to spend some dough.
-
I hate seeing anybody have to spend money because of someone else's carelessness!interpreter and KF7WTV Thank this.

If you have ever been part of a joint haulaway/railroad damage prevention team with an OEM you'd understand why I feel the way I do. They are holier than thou arrogant BSTRDS the railroads are...
-
Oh heck, I don't doubt that for a minute. But over time, all this stuff drives up prices. Everywhere.PuritanProwess and Pullin2 Thank this.

I tend to agree i dont mind paying for my mistakes but dam paying for someone elses

Think about your statement. The railroad destroying autos does nothing to the price of the auto over time. The OEM got their money for the auto big time. We are talking RAILROAD here. The rail price goes up, it goes back on a truck where it belongs. Do you forget the good old days when there was a long line road board working out of every auto assembly plant? I remember GM Tarrytown assy., They ran the Midwest out of there. GM Linden too. Nowdays the railroads move cars dirt cheap. Whenever a train running on single track has to sit for another to pass, if it is the auto train, that's the one that sits. All that traffic that would have went on the long line trucks is now railed...dirt cheap. I have no love for railroads, and when they have to cough up their fair share for what they tore up...oh well suits me fine

3,500 total units damaged ...... at the same rail head ? Holy crap !
-
OK, what you are saying is probably right. I wasn't looking at it from that direction. But even so, I hate to see any money wasted, and money spent on damage because somebody didn't do their job, is money wasted.
-
Yes you are correct. It IS a gross waste of money. And when the railroad tears something up it is usually extremely expensive.
