So, this "joke of a law" is going to force a company to leave their gates unlocked or send someone back to the property just to let you out when your 10 hours are completed. Tell you what, you sure know how to dream.

this"joke" law has already shown it's teeth.. sorry you last the ability to look it up, however it does not make it less true

The case that you referred to had nothing at all to do with hours of service violations, it dealt with an overweight load. You are comparing apples to oranges. And the case is on appeal, I would be willing to bet you that Marten will win the case. And again, you are bringing up a trucking company and not a shipper or receiver. The government has no power at all to tell a shipper or receiver their hours that they are required to be open.

This law is real joke.
Driver solely responsible for trip time planning. Are you will be out of hours after unloading? Go to truck stop take your 10 or 34 then come back to unload.
Ask me how i learn this lesson. -
It is the drivers responsibility to not put himself in that position. Why is it everybody else's fault that you did not plan ahead and stop for your 10 and then drive in. Nobody said anything about being delayed at the dock so I'm only talking about getting to your destination and then crying about being out of hours. If you are running that tight, that is between you and your company, why blame everybody else for your lack of preplanning.
Snailexpress and Grouch Thank this. -
the law covers any illegal action HOS overweight or unsafe equipment... if you actually read the law you might grasp that but instead you are spouting bull crap while in ingorance.
so you plan on a receiver taking 7 hours to unload you??
You must be the most effective trip planner ever if you know exactly how long every live load or unload will take everytime -
Let me bring something else up. "False Imprisonment" boils down to refusing to let you leave, telling you to stay when you want to leave, locking the gate or door and you cannot leave. A little different when you refuse to leave and the other party is trying to get you to leave. A little different twist when "false imprisonment" is brought up.

You know, I should have known not to try to get a truck driver to see something, after 53 years in this business, one thing learned, you can't tell a driver a thing, he knows it all and that goes for you. I give up. I rather talk to a fence post.

Have the discussion without the insults and bickering, please.
